obviously time has moved on and rick now leads. hopefully the mods can just post the result and reset everything to zero, so that the posts can continue, or maybe its just a new thread |

One guess who voted for Frosty already...
My vote still goes to Rick. I think he can withstand the pressure of Lowndes and drive calmly and race well and win his first V8 Supercar Championship. |

No changes to my vote...
It would be great to see Rick win his maiden title, he has played the game well. All we want gentlemen, is a good clean fight. None of this stuff!! |

No change here - Only one of those guys deserves it, driving with the emotions he did during Bathurst.
That guy, even if he doesn't win, deserves every accolade he has received and gotten (My only wish is that he was still in a Red machine...) |

You know, I was just thinking back. Who was the last Holden champion who wasn't named Skaife or Lowndes?
I think you'll have to go back to a Brock... |

just checked. Last Holden champion before 1994 (Skaife, Gibson MS) was Brock in 1980.

I have changed my vote as the potential championship Holdens seem faster than the potential championship Fords. Qualifying will be interesting.

Craig still in front by opinion on the new one - very good!
Despite popular opinion the car has the goods to win it - it's his qualifying that has let him down. As far as fastest laps go, he was Quicker at Bathurst Quicker in 2 of the 3 races at Indy Couldn't match him in Tassie Quicker in 2 of the 3 races in Bahrian - so this nonsense about the car having no pace is unfounded. Given that he loves Phillip Island, has his own groove in the road he has done so many laps going back to the HRT days, and had pole and a race win last year, with a Championship on the line he'll be tough to beat |

Adelaide - 1 race each NZ - Craig 2 from 3 WA - Rick 2 from 3 Winton - Craig 2 from 3 NT - Craig clean sweep QLD - Craig 2 from 3 Oran Park - Craig 2 from 3 Sandown - Craig Bathurst - Craig Indy - Craig 2 from 3 Tas - Rick clean sweep Bahrain - Craig 2 from 3 so out of the 31 races run and won this year so far it's 19-Craig/12- Rick for fastest laps. If Craig qualifies in front of Rick then Rick should start worrying.... |

I did a quick calculation of average finishing positions for both Craig and Rick.
For Craigs DNF at Adelaide I awarded him 27th which seemed fair. Results are: Rick Kelly - 6.322580645 Craig Lowndes - 6.580645161 It seems that when Craig goes well he goes very well, but his bad rounds are worse. It would be interesting to see other years winners average finishing position to see if it varies much. I think they will mostly be around this number, except for maybe a few years like Lowndes or Skaife's total domination in HRT's glory days. Ambrose would possibly have a reasonable finishing position as well. Anyway, it's just another way to look at the figures I guess. Just remember, figures can lie and liars can figure |

Dazz, without the lower points for race 2, I think that this formula would show the retrospective drivers correctly in their championship position with the points score the way it is. I could be wrong.

Yes without the reverse grid races the positions would be higher.
Although the relativity would remain similar. After watching the reverse grid rounds, I think the biggest travesty is that those races were onyl worth half points. It really affected those who bombed race one, started from the rear and got back in the top few places. |

And you can't include a DNF in a *finishing* position average. Its interesting that the poll has now changed to have Rick in the lead now that he is leading the championship. It looks like votes are also exactly proportional to the championship order! |

Would it be so unfeasable that W. Davison and A. Jones DNF all races. In fact it's probably quite likely. So if the same likely event happens to different numbers it could be lowndes and kelly, and it's a likely event.
Thus Frosty is to take the title, using structed illogic. |

Otherwise if someone finished first in half the races and dnf'd the other half, their average position would be 1st which is not really right. |
