Silencer

Hello
Does anyone know where to find an "old small type" FF1600 silencer?

Henrik what is an old small type ff1600 silencer? I would think thats a "no" silencer. your own swedish Simons makes very good "old style dampers" for an affordable price.
do you race in the Netherlands ocassionaly?

Silencer

Hello

The "small FF silencer" is the old one
I know welll of Simons silencers but the old one fits well on my VD RF85´s bodywork

From the FF regulations:

5.4 EXHAUST SYSTEM
a) The exhaust system and manifold are free,
within Vehicle Regulations.
b) A mandatory silencer, Ford Part No.
9095317 (or old unit 9094277) must be fitted

Made in England

I'll have a look tonight, we used to have one which came off a 79 FF2000 when we were made to use the larger version. I'll let you know tomorrow

Sorry, it looks like it must have gone out in one of our rare clear outs.

Farbrooke has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
If the regulations will allow - and if you cannot seemingly buy one any longer then it may be very short sighted if they do not - you could have replica silencers made - www.larinisystems.com - will make you a stainless equivalent - as there seem to be several of you then a batch will be even more attractive - whose regulations are you quoting?

Regulations

Hello

The regulations quoted where from this page

smsc.jmw-group.co.uk/ff1600-mar2004.pdf

Here in sweden we can use any silencer we like as long as we fulfil the noise regulations. The old one look correct on my RF-85 and is easily converted to a repackable unit since it only has one chamber opposed to the bigger one which has two chambers.
I guess making it repackable would make it doubtful regulationwise

Think I would raise the matter with the the series coordinator before repacking - appears you can use non specified parts with written permission
