Back in 1996 there was a Volvo 960 driven by Ulf Palm in the Swedish Touring Car Championship. But I'm not so sure that it was ST-spec', at least I know for sure that the engine was not.

No, a lot of the old 1996 starters were old Group A (?) fighters like the Mercedes 190.

Not really Group-A, but DTM-spec' cars with Volvo-engines. A special set of rules constructed for the old BMW M3 and Mercedes cars at the time when Super Touring made their entry to Swedish racing.

Speaking of those old seasons, you don't happen to have entry lists with the team namnes (that seems to be missing from most lists) for 1996-1997?

The Touring Car World annuals are a great source of information and for pics. I "have" to buy one every year to keep up. You can try to find one for your year on Ebay. Older ones can probably be found for very cheap.

he technically raced in 8 of the 9 rounds, even if some of them were classed as DNFs. It would be interesting to followup on what happened to him and his car.

A wild guess would be Volvo Original Cup, if it was up and running by then? It has a a couple of models yes?
