Melbourne Weather
Here is the link to te official Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology weather forecasts: http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDV10450.shtml
Bascally, looks fine for the forecast peroid, (7 days), but being Melbourne anything could happen (though this is the most stable period of the year for weather) Here is the "up one page" link, it gve access to other forecasts and handy things like the rain radar. http://www.bom.gov.au/weather/vic/ If it did rain it would be an irony since we are in the middle/end of a drought that has seen our water storage drop to below 35%, with stage 3 water restrictions across the state, some towns have resorted to trucking in water. |

For the Grand Prix, i am going to pack the following into my backpack.
Suncream, Hat, Raincoat, Snow Gloves, Thermal Underwear, Gumboots, Thongs, and a torch. And that is only for half a day Welcome to Melbourne, if you dont like the weather today - wait ten minutes. |

Ahh, ive missed F1 weather threads.
The promise of rain a week before the race, only to be greeted with a race drier than Jack Dee. |

Reminds me of ITV. They always used to put in their weather bulletins before the F1 coverage started that there was a 'chance' of rain at the gp. They did this every race.
Call me synical but I think they only did it to get more ppl to watch it. |

I'll start dancing now shall I?
RedBull,Toyota and one or two others will be praying for rain. The Honda team,I suspect, may have something up their sleeves with regard to actually making it rain! Massa,in a Ferrari,in the rain.....hmmmm.....dodgy,very suspect. But not just him! Here's to a thoroughly wet and miserable weekend, and I'm sure that most of Australia would agree with me there. |

I'd prefer it to be a totally dry weekend really. Save the rain for Malaysia

Nah, a bit of rain always spices things up, especially at melbourne where the track is a bit slippy anyway.

I'm hoping for a dry race for once, so we can see how the teams really shape up against one another!!

nice 33 degrees today.....
i expect it will be a dry weekend, with perhaps a chance of a few drops here and there, but nothing to make a difference to the track... ironically, if it does rain, then the track will be extremely slippery, as the oil deposits of the last few months will come to the surface, as late january was the last time we had a rainy day. I've been driving on the track to and fro work (turns 12through to 6), and the trucks etc have made the track very dusty, but i presume they clean that up before the race weekend... anyway, expect it to be dusty and not much grip at all (interesting how this will combine with the new spec tyre)... plenty of bent machinery on the friday is my guess... nice clear blue skies, not a cloud to be seen, 33 degrees predicted for today!
however, it seems as though the change will come through later today, but accurate weather predictions and melbourne just dont sit happily in the same sentence: http://weather.theage.com.au/local.jsp |

Still remember hiding in between a mobile fridge and shipping container a last year when it went from fine, mid 20's to <15 and pelting rain in the space of 15 minutes. $8 for one of those poncho thing IIRC. |

Yeh - I remember last year too. Outside the track, perfectly sunny skies, poncho's - $3.
Inside the track, 2hrs later, pouring with rain, and ponchos $7. bah! |

A few light showers from menacing skies late this afternoon.
Apparently there is a little more rain due sometime in the next two days. |

Currently a bit of rain about, (see the radar link on the first page) but it looks like it will be clear within an hour or so.
