The word around the paddock in NZ was Coulthard was in Astro, hence the black roof as they didnt have time to paint it in time for pukekohe. After seeing how it went I think Morris wants it back now for Winton.

I dont think "H" for Hercules will be fixed in a hurry, while "I" for the (World's Fastest) Indian isnt quite ready to go A bigger concern is the driver getting out of the car without anyone around him I would have thought... Mr Cattach suggested in the SMH today that the local recovery team left something to be desired... this pic shows some of that |

So you want officials on the track while cars are still racing do you.
That meeting is run by v8 supercars all officials are told what to do by the travelling army from australia |

Whats even funnier is that he said that people would rather see a podium than a full race?! I cant imagine anyone on here thinking that?

I didn't see the recovery so I can't give much comment (are they volunteer officials over there, or a hired in truck with professional regular road crew as is usually the case up here). It wouldn't have been an easy recovery with the amount of damage especially to the running gear. A Hi-Ab lift may have been easier than a ramp if available, but depending on damage to the roll cage may not have been considered safe.
However, please don't confuse the recovery crew with the Rescue crew, who looked to me to have done everything right. Pit straights are notoriously difficult to marshal in terms of getting people there quickly, and the entrance to that one is particularly fast, so you couldn't put a vehicle in their until you're certain that the field is under control - first law of intervention: the only thing worse than a casualty is another casualty, ensure your own safety before taking any action. There certainly had been a crew member inside the car with the driver as I watched him crawl inside on the telecast (I've literally just reviewed it) and immediately after that picture there were three crew, at least one of whom was a medic assisting him from the car. In short, that picture is highly misleading. Bear in mind also that the driver was reported as talking to his team by radio and presumably to the marshals also, then there is less urgency than the picture suggests is necessary. It was also notable that, with marshals already at the vehicle, one made a point of checking Brad was OK as he passed him before making an access through the passenger side window to get to Paul. |

With Indian being the next PMM car who can nominate what the J car will be christened I am going for Junior (Johnson) as Paul has a great deal of respect for Steve Johnsons driving talent having had a long association dating back to Trans Am in N.Z.
