I don’t mind it but feel it should go to the top 20 not 15. It must be fairly demoralizing to be this far into the season and have no points; top 20 would at least give the underdogs a fighting chance

I'm not minding the new points, although Rick still seems to be doing well enough to win the championship without having the most race wins.

If there was going to be a change, i rekon the old F1 style is to be had, or something like top 6 or 8 at most.

Glad we got rid off the nascar style of a million points per year tho

You cant apply the F1 system accurately though; F1 has a maximum of 24 cars, not 32, so it gives points to 1/3 the field currently, and 1/4 under the previous system.

All of a sudden, top 15 seems generous

I know it will never happen. I just said thats my opinion of what it should be.

In a perfect world, there should be 1 point for a race win, thats it. then we'll see some real racing!

a fighting chance at what? 18th place is still 18th place, no matter whether you award points or not.

As mentioned it should go to the Top 6 only (10-6-4-3-2-1). Awarding it to the top 15 is still rewarding people for finishing basically mid-pack!

Questions for you
Do you still want 30 odd cars lined up on the grid next year?

If we award points to the top 6 as you suggest that means after Toms cars there are only 2 cars to get points

Note that after Murph in 13th place there is a huge slump in the points standings and then we get down to Alan Gurr, Fabian Coulthard, Paul Dumbrell & Jack Pekins sitting on either 2 points or 0

Sure Paul Radisich, Simon Wills, Brad Jones and Adam Macrow haven’t competed in every round but still Simon Wills, Brad Jones and Adam Macrow sit on 0 points.

Another question for you. Just why did Brad Jones leave? Was the real reason that he at least wanted to exit out with some dignity?

My point being here that if you don’t give the guys at the back of the field a fighting chance to get some points we may not see them on the grid in the future. Asking a sponsor for money must be very hard if they ask you how many points you had in last years Championship.

Award point to the top 20 and give them a fighting chance.

If they can't achieve a midfield finish every now and then it may just be getting them off the grid is a good thing.

I think the point system is about right Garths problem is its first or nothing ( actually Garths problem is that he has a crap car controller, surely its time to get some pit strategy) Rick is constantly in the top 3, where as Gt has had a number of 4ths and a tenth , he ended with an average result at Clipsal

News update guy leading F1 championship has one a race

No one liked the old system eveyone wanted it changed because it was a finishing championship not a winning championship.
Well guess what, to win first you have to finish. get over it,it does not matter what the points system is the same cars will still be leading.
Tell your sponsers where you finished in the series not how many points you scored there may be 10 cars with 5 points but they wont all be 28th one will be 22nd & one 32 just as it would of been last year

That would no longer be a championship, you may as well simply count the race wins and forget about points in general. Maybe we'd get some aggressive racing, but we'd also see some people racing absolutely hopelessly with no concern over how it will affect their championship, as a handfull of wins amongst a dozen competitive car/driver combo's could be enough for the win at the end of the year.
