Melchester Racing's Radical Plans

Daily Sportscar have broken the news that Melchester Racing's plans to join the prototype ranks in ACO rules racing are close to reality........

The aim is to run two Radical SR9's in the Le Mans Series this year, one purchased from Radical and the second being the Rollcentre car which is for sale.

Furthermore, ‘Melchester and Radical are also striving to put together a deal to run at least one SR9 in LMP1 guise, running on clean bio-fuel and to this end Radical will also apply for an invitation for an entry into the Le Mans 24 Hour race in June’. (Hope Malcolm doesn't mind me lifting that statement direct from the DSC article?)

Having given this a bit of thought, I wonder if this part of the plan is doomed to fail in 2007. Reading between the lines, it sounds to me as if the green light will only be given to the project if the ACO grant Radical an entry for Le Mans......

Autosport are running an article on page 25 - they are saying that Melchester intend to run the Judd-Ricardo Diesel for the 2008 season.......aparrentlt going green is a good "hook" for potential sponsors........theres talk of running 4 cars!....two LMP1 and two LMP2......would be nice to see it all happen - best of luck.

The LMS will always have room for prototypes. I'm pretty sure they'd rather kick a GT2 car out than an LMP.
