Opes Prime down, Perera out, Camara in

As some of you (mainly Aussies) will already know, Conquest Racing's sponsor Opes Prime has gone down in flames. This has forced Coquest to dump their least paying driver (Perera, who wasn't helped by the fact that his personal sponsor also ran away), and pick up a paying one (Jamie Camara). Sad news, here's to hoping that Perera will find a ride somewhere.

Tough break for Perera, but at least we still keep the car & Camara isn't the worst driver in the world.

Add another to the 20+ list of drivers who will be pacing by the telephone come mid may with fingers crossed.

I do wonder, if Camara had the budget for an Indycar seat, why didn't he find one from the off - not as if he is a last minute refugee.

After hearing an interview with Camara from Kansas, he didn't bring any money for himself to the ride. Rather, when Opes went down Sangaris, Bernoldi's sponsor, saw the opportunity for a fully Brazilian lineup and stumped up some money.

Unfortunate situation for Perera, especially as Camara's IPS record doesn't suggest that he's quite good enough for IRL. His oval experience might help the team though.
