Peter - any plans to run "open" single seater race?? We are getting 30+ cars in F4 this year - many of which would be interested....

I have spoken to Powernights, the MAY meeting is OPEN single seaters up to 2000cc. (targeted at FR, Duratec, Zetec, KENT FF's, F4, Monoposto etc)

The JUNE and JULY are exclusive FF1600 Kent.

entries are available on the powernights.com website.

Hope this helps.

NEWS UPDATE from Roger Etcell at Powernights, he writes;
Dear Competitor
The 2008 Series of POWERnights kick-starts at Silverstone in just 10 days time (Thursday 08 May) and we are anticipating a great series of 4 summer evening events from May through to August. At each Thursday evening event £5,000 cash prize fund, trophies, champagne and garlands are up for grabs as is 60 minutes of exclusive television coverage on MOTORS TV!

For the first event we are further expanding our publicity coverage by entering two-local radio Northants 96 DJ’s into race training and for their ARDS test here at Silverstone ready for their inaugural race on Thursday 08 May in a Ma5da MX5.

In recognition of the tough financial climate, including the price of fuel!, and the general costs of racing we are offering a £100 voucher to all entrants of the first event on Thursday 08 May. The voucher will be provided as 5 x £20 vouchers redeemable towards BP fuel at the Silverstone circuit fuel-station, or towards Grand Prix Racewear products from their Silverstone store or towards your next POWERnights entry. (Also provided to all current entrants for the 08 May)

If you haven’t already entered and wish to do so, simply see the attached Race Entry Pack details, complete the Entry Form on the last page and fax back to us here on 01327 856 025. We will e-mail confirmation and then final instructions just prior to each event. Please do visit www.powernights.com for further details.
We hope you find POWERnights of interest and look forward to welcoming you on the day.

SO THAT'S £100 towards fuel or racewear or another POWERNIGHTS evening!

Some organisers are listening! Excellent.

Does anyone know how many non-FF1600 cars were in the Single-seaters last night?

Just wondering as I know that the decision to open it out meant that a lot of FF1600s that would've entered otherwise chose not to and I wonder if it was worth it for the organisers to do that.

I think the rest will be FF1600 only??

Cheers Stu. That's not that many. I guess would have been 15 or so if just FF1600 at least.

kartingdad has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I hear that thenext 2powernights have been cancelled due to lack of support. Cancelling events is hardly the best way to engender future support I would have thought. Such a pity really as they seemed to have put alot of work into the first one.

Yes, the decision wasn't taken lightly. However we are planning a one big event in August (21st). Full story here - http://www.powernights.com/story7.php

Thta's a shame Jeff.

We were planning to enter a load of FF1600s, like last year, once FF1600 races were on the schedule.

I hope you will have these on the one big event?

Well done for being brave enough to try something different though.
