Thats very informattive, but the reason he is on the pole is because of the infiniti engine being able to show its horsepower

Go Infiniti!
Cheever with Infiniti on pole? Yoooohhhoooo!
Glad to see the "Old Roman" up there, especially after all the high bills he's paying for those accidents (himself and Scheckter) in the first two races... Go Infiniti! |

I wonder how it will compare to a CART race there, IRL is great on the Atlanta and Texas ovals but this one's a bit bigger (they seems to get spread out at Indy).
Although AJ Foyt said they will show CART how to race around there, part of me thinks perhaps the race won't be as good as CART with their "fix it for close racing" Handford wings. Let's hope I'm wrong, roll (not literally) on Sunday |

Buhk's team was looking to run a second car this season anyway, but it never came together. If Memo can get a good result......let's just hope he has a great day. "Wondering about the Penskes and hoping for the best..." I expect them to be in the fight at 300 miles at the latest. It's a long race and Penske isn't worried about qualifying. If they aren't in the lead pack at the end, I'll be surprised. And how about my man, Jacques Lazier? He's been running race set ups all week and look where he is! He ought to be a rocket in the race. Go Jaques! |

"I wonder how it will compare to a CART race there, IRL is great on the Atlanta and Texas ovals but this one's a bit bigger (they seems to get spread out at Indy)." I think the IRL cars are really in their element on the 1.5 mile ovals, they run 222-225 on those tracks and they aren't any faster on the superspeedways. So I think they might be a little breathless on the big tracks. "Although AJ Foyt said they will show CART how to race around there, part of me thinks perhaps the race won't be as good as CART with their "fix it for close racing" Handford wings." For once, I think AJ is right. But those Handford races weren't real. The guy in front had a 20mph speed disadvantage to the guy behind him. Anyone who took the lead was a sitting duck. Hard to find it entertaining when it is all so contrived. You don't get that kind of tow in an IRL car, so passing on the straights is not fall asleep easy like with a Handford. most of the time the IRL cars do all their passing in the corners. THAT is exciting stuff. And that is why I think they will put on a better show. |

I became a believer last year after giving a few IRL races an honest look. I have to admit I was a joyful IRL basher before then, but they have really iomproved the show in the last couple of years.
CART just got caught up in the technology thing and the cars go so fast they had to hang all that drag on them. not only did it create an artificial tow, but the resulting turbulence made it impossible to get close in the corners. By hopefully their new cars will be better. |
