What a pity that god awful 'music' is blaring out over the top of the engine sounds.

BTCC 1985 footage

I'm the one who posted the footage in question. First off, what you see is what was copied from a Ford promo which 'fell' into my hands for a short period many years ago. I wasted no time in copying it, video to video. Anyone old enough to remember doing this will know that the quality tended to suffer as a result, even though I used good quality composite/audio cables - this was before scart was popular! Don't blame me if you don't like the sound track, that's what was on it, and I haven't the time to do anything about it.... Converting the video tape to electronic format and then compressing it to fit on Youtube or Motorsportmad compromises things even more. I'm surprised how well it converted into AVi format having sat on a shelf for 23 years. Don't ask about the source - the Ford dealer (Ireland) is long gone. Some of the other stuff I have was recorded in similar fashion, or directly from TV as in the case of the 1987 TT and 1983 BTCC footage. I was always at the mercy of the elements for reception quality - those with long memories will appreciate this. When touring cars were on, I grabbed it! I have the equipment to convert original video tapes - getting them is the problem! Apologies about the slow reaction to this thread, I don't always have the time (or remember to check) on the forum. And copying stuff from VHS tends to eat up computer resources. Anyway, I will keep looking through what I have, and if it's good enough quality - up it goes. :>)

Sorry if my reply regarding the music in the message above sounds snotty! Blame Ford or Hay Fisher (I suspect they were behind it). I have no idea how to change added sounds, and anyway - turbocharged engines often sound like backfiring VW Beetles...... :>)

Some more (poor quality - sorry!) from the 1987 BTCC can be found at my profile as listed above now. New today is Oulton park round 10. I also have the support race from the GP that year, and will upload it if I can find it.....
I can't remember how good the quality is though.

You will now find round 6 (Silverstone GP support) and round 7 (Brands Hatch long) uploaded to Motorsportmad.com. These are far better quality. All recorded from long gone and much missed Screensport. Enjoy!
