Not trying to make too much of this, but the media have shown images of Car 505.
Here is the entry list A very fast & experienced competitor, sadly lost from our motor sport community. My condolences to both of their families. Again such a tragedy involving tarmac rallying. With a growing number of competitors losing their life in this type of event ( Ian Cocks, Brockie, Paul Flintoff etc.) perhaps a serious review of this type of event needs to happen, and fast. It appears obvious (to me at least) that the risks outweigh the returns. Those returns go directly to the pocket of the promoter. Well know that motorsport is dangerous, the back of our ticket, or the indemnity form so often reminds us. Maybe this type of event needs to be reviewed, and as we recently saw at Phillip Island V8's, with a "Targa" category providing last minute support. Perhaps, there is a need for this category to be developed for circuit events, beginning at State level (whichever sanctioning body...) for a safer outlet for these competitors to participate ! |

Condolences to all the family/friends of those involved in the crash, and thoughts with those that attended.
Tragedies like this remind me of why I volunteer my time on the track as a doc to do what I can to help... |

A great event for a reasonable cost that was sadly undersubscribed, and not repeated since. I would certainly support similar events in the future. However, such an event does not duplicate the thrill or atmosphere generated by tarmac rally stages. The Duttons concept probably comes closest to being a good compromise between the two; and whilst I might never compete in a big tarmac rally, I'm not sure I would want them to disappear. |

A mate was the next car following, some 20 seconds behind.
One of the 1st on the scene. Class act has spoken very little about the accident on another forum. Yet within moments a media team were offering him money for his in car film. i call scum! |

Gary was a good bloke & the look, sound and sweet smell of Elf in that RSR will be notably missed. RIP mate.
BTW, I'm sure he would be pretty ****ed to hear people naysaying any form of motorsport on his behalf. |

Could barely believe that when i read it last night. Some of the photos from the scene were bad enough being published before the family were notified.
