Tenthers in the woods
Last Month on the Cambrian rally there was a nasty accident with a Fiesta leaving the road and dropping a good 50foot down a slope, after its forward motion (approx 80mph) was arrested by a tree
First marshal on scene, and the radio op getting the news back to us are both regulars here, I would have posted this earlier but have had severe IT issues, (Talk Talk) This is the tree the Fiesta hit, the marks are about 30 foot up from the base of the tree Can you see the car? I was on scene just after the rescue, and we had to rig ropes to get people and equipment to the casualty. Once he had been stabilised and put on a board we winched him back up a ladder of marshals, a brilliant bit of teamwork. After the casualty had been transferred to county we started to prep the site for recovering the car, two recovery units and two cars acting as anchors were needed to winch the fiesta back to the road, you may note that when you need to do a job, only one make of vehicle is correct! So, who were the 10thers in the thick of it? Step forwards messrs Fazza and C9/89, good work fellas! |

Good to see Mr Land Rover's products being put to proper use, so many of them rarely get their tyres dirty! I used to sell them and all the kit (winches, ground anchors etc) knowing full well they were only bought for their posing ability - what a waste!

You two are not even safe when left alone in a forest, are you? Come on, own up: which one of you placed the pork-based pastry products on the branches of the tree???
All joking aside, nice bit of work - congrats |

Oddly enough the last rally those two were on resulted in a stage stop when a Fiesta launched itself a long way off road (on to a beach that time)

See I knew I had to have a effect somewhere! It just happens to be in the forests! Normally just before my(our)position too! Faz was a star and it was just a matter of doing the right thing. First day as the radio op and I get a priority! Scary not knowing what is happening as I couldnt actually see the position, just had to rely on Faz to give the descriptions and the passing cars for the updates, just as it should have been.
Rallying is a case of really thinking on your feet and very exciting to boot. I may have found my true calling in(marshalling)life but Im not giving up the circuits, too many great people, and too many fantastic events to do! Thanks Ian and Fazza, a pleasure to work with you as ever! |

Yes I was there as well.I took the cable from the land rover and passed it down the bank to the lads at the bottom so they could winch the casualty back up to the rescue unit. It was the first time I'd been involved in a rescue like that. Any news on how the co-driver is now? That must have been a pretty scary experience for him!

Yes it was a blur of activity and bodies, but thats why we're there! Its where all the training and experience kicks in! At first glance it all looks pretty daunting but you just get on with what needs to be done.
Look forward to catching up with everyone somewhere on a rally or race circuit in the new year. |

Not totally dry in the lakes yesterday - but then again all that water in the lakes needs to come from somewhere.
As always a great event - brilliantly organised. Gemini 53a at 3- was a bit buisy - 10 visitors during the first run - all of them bar 1 continued with the assistance of the spectators. |

As the start for North was down by the Visitors Centre, I'm suspecting it is the 90 left around SD336962, on the uphill section approaching Moor Top. It is a sequence of bends - the last one tightens on the exit with a drop off the outside. Probably just before our where our arrival is. When running downhill it doesn't seem to cause any probs.
