Hopefully PieLady will still be undertaking that role, although now that Alan (PieMan) Tyson is no longer chief marshal...........???
Note to self: Contact PieMan and get things organised |

Tony - Excellent!
Maps will be a godsend now that everything has changed - after all, I am the girl who "lost" Brooklands Also still willing to do the Assembly area on the run up to "morphing" into PieLady Will undoubtedly see you sometime between now and then ......... BTW - Bill is interested to know if he will still be involved with the "Chief" flag team on the startline? |

On the subject of circuits, will they still be using the "Bridge" GP layout with the fuel lane in the assembly area, or using the arena track?

Shelagh/Tony - I hope to be there but may have to go to work on the Saturday (although that means I'll be able to pick up more pies on the way back to the circuit).
I've heard we'll be using the 'Bridge GP' layout (i.e. the same one as for previous 24 Hours) so not too many changes for Shelagh to learn, especially if she does the posts on the outside of the track. She'll need to allow more time and fuel because not only are Stowe, Club etc in the next county (Bucks) but the widened run-off area from Luffield to Copse means that those posts are now almost in Oxfordshire and Warwickshire. Refuelling will have to be in the main pits due to the changes at the Assembly Area but I guess that assembly, at least for the main race, will still need to be on the national straight. Some people have already been in touch (before Christmas!) about volunteering and being on the same post as their mates. I think it's best if everybody volunteers individually, so that we get all the names in good time and are ready to send out the passes etc. The allocation can't really be looked at in detail until nearer the event and we'll do our best but nothing can be guaranteed. Obviously the more people who volunteer the easier it will be to satisfy preferences because we know that overall the circuit is well covered. 24 weeks to go! |

What Alan says above is probably what is going to happen. Spoke very briefly to James Tucker last weekend when he came to have a look at the circuit "improvements" and I think that is generally the plan from Britcar.

I will go with the flow and at least driving around various English counties won't be affected by volcanic ash!

By the way, last time I did Le Mans in "height of summer" in June, I was wearing more layers than I probably ever have done for the Britcar and was also resembling a downspout whilst holding up the Safety Car board - rain running down one sleeve and out the other!! As they say - prepare for all eventualities as you never know how it will turn out. Shelagh |

If any of you want to consider hiring a motor home for some comfort, let me know by PM, my neighbour runs a small company very near Donington Park that rents them out. 2 berths to 6 berths available IIRC.
They have helped me out in the past, hence I have their logo on my car. |

If the Mods allow - a link or an address might be handy (not sure if it constitutes advertising). Must confess that my camping days are now well past as I have got to an age where creature comforts are all important (expect lots of comment ) so we tend to do B&B or the wonderful Premier Inn. But, you never know |

What I call "Shelagh's Assembly area" on the National Straight is, apparently, now called "Wellington".
Two questions: 1) Why couldn't they name it after me? 2) Are they calling me an old boot? Answers on a postcard....... (or text at £1.50 plus normal charge).. |
