That's really good news, as I really feared the worst.

It's 20+ years since I'd been to watch motor racing, and I was suprised by the amount of police at the scene of the incident. Is this normal now, and if so why is that?

Perhaps given the news today a separate thread in the tributes forum should be set up??

Very sad news indeed.

We've also reopened the marshals' support forum so that any marshals involved with this incident can find a listening ear should they want someone to talk to.

With deepest sympathy to all,

Chris

Thoughts and prayers with all concerned.
Happy to help in any way I can, especially if a listening ear is needed.

Just a brief nudge that there is a separate tributes thread as linked above, that way all the tributes stay in one place should Jeff's family wish to see them. Cheers

So sad Jeff sucumbed to his injuries. Thanks to my colleagues from my post who backed up the adjacent posts involved for their professionalism in dealing with this tragedy. I've been there before, and if anyone needs to talk about their feelings from attending this incident I am willing to talk to colleagues, or please make use of the councilling available, either from BARC or BMMC

As one of the Post Chiefs involved in this incident this news is very, very sad. I'll add my condolences to the tributes thread. To the marshals, rescue teams, medical and circuit staff involved you all did a tremendously professional job and were a credit to British marshalling. As TheRaceGypsy says remember it helps to talk and don't be backward or shy in seeking a friendly ear to listen or seeking counseling if things won't go away.

RIP Jeff.

Welcome crazychix,
sorry that you're first post had to be such a sad one.
You and all the rest of those involved did all you could but, in an accident of this seriousness, the rest is down to fate.
Don't let this tragedy put you off. despite the many accidents we see, these sad occasions are very few and far between.
Rest in Peace Jeff
