John Madden should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
60's to 70's Racer David Shaw

Does anyone know of an English racer who ran all sorts as a privateer in the 60's and 70's, from F1 (UK national races) to F3 and sports (T70)? Also ran in NZ in F5000 but doesn't register in my ever fading memory. Military bloke, guards, businessman. He ran at some point using the name David Shaw to hide his exploits from his parents.

Maybe, Nordet. This query is a result of a conversation with an old fella in a park yesterday who spotted my young son was wearing a Bell cycle helmet, and away he went. When he said he had raced at Pukekohe and Teretonga (in NZ) I asked his name. He said he raced as David Shaw, at which point I had to move away. Now I'm curious as to whether he was fair dinkum or pulling my leg.

If it was me I would assume that the 'fair dinkum' nomenclature applies. Its a lovely wee story and to find out he was 'pulling your, or my leg', would only spoil it.
