I agree with you and that's what I and every motorsport fan wants, but I've already gotten over the unrealistic idealism and try to think in terms of how GT racing would be as interesting as possible.

If you don't have the equalizing force, your GT series can quickly turn to a spec, GT Challenge series in effect, because everybody either leaves or just chooses to run the ONE BEST CAR. You can either have the variety you want, or the absolute technical freedom you want, but trying to have both, your series will have the life of a supernova, and then what?

As was discussed in another thread, GT2 has been really good in the last decade. It was mainly Porsche vs. Ferrari, but also had Panoz, Aston Martin, Spyker competing, though not as successful as the first two. But I still prefer that to having a dozen equalized cars.
