Electrical insulation textile tape

Hello,

I wonder if somebody could tell me what the exact name is of this kind of tape:
Using it to insulate a complete cable tree.
It is hairy at the outside, black, and gives a very finished look.
I know tesa has this kind of tape but when i'm start looking on the internet I only find the Vinyl tape or a small supplier (with no datasheet of this tape).

Also HPX has a textile tape but it's not hairy.

Generically it's normally called 'loom tape' but different manufacturers may call it different names.

There's a UK supplier called Croylek Limited who might have that tape. I know it as black acetate cloth tape. Have a look at their data sheet on their website to check. http://www.croylek.com/en/products/2...oth-tape-.html

There's lots of things that will do the job, it really depends what specific properties you're looking for...

Also depends where you are based, and how much you need.

BMW's use a cloth tape made by Certoplast. I tried buying some a few years back from the manufacturer, but the MOQ's were quite large. If you do a search on ebay.de for certoplast you will find it being sold by the roll, in different widths, and not at all expensive . Check on the Certoplast website for the different specifications of the range

We always knew it as "Self Amalgamating" Tape. Although in my experience most types weren't "hairy" as you term it, but did do as its name suggests! Used extensively to wrap cable looms etc.
Try this . . .

Self amalgamating tape is a bit different, it basically "fuses" itself together after you wrap it up. I think the OP is referring to fabric or cloth tape?

Wurth do an electrical harness insulation tape which is very good. Over here it is worth about $40.00 a roll
