Good days
Excellent couple of days. Grids a bit thin on Saturday; clearly some series need urgent attention or a bullet.
Caterhams good fun as usual; pretty sensible close racing and far fewer shed mudgards than previously. Timetables seemed to work as the organisers were pretty lucky with no-slow-to-resolve incidents or much barrier damage. New post chief radios seemed to work quite well; it will be interesting to see how it stands up (the people using it, not the technology) to a serious incident or two. A couple of schoolboy errors (sorry!) in the SaxMax did give our team at Knickerbrook some exercise. Drivers retained sense of proportion - good show. Thanks to all of the crews and congratulations to those who had satisfactory assessments completed. Regards Jim |

Slighty harsh comment about saturdays grids.....31 sports 2000, 24minis, 23 alfas, 22 pre 90 ff, 16 golfs is very reasonable to excellent grids id say given the current economic climate, fair enough post 89 ff only 10 is slightly thin and the scottish classics usually have more up at knockhill but the away oulton round is possibly a bit to much money for most, travelling, hotel etc so all in all id say an excellent meeting with decent grids that certainly dont warrent your comment!!!!!

Fair comment; should have had "Some grids . . ." in there.
The Scottish Minis were excellent if a bit rough in places. 16 Golfs is a bit thin? FF1600 Post-89 and Scottish saloons all a bit thin. Sports 2000 and FF post-89 excellent. Regards Jim |

Thoroughly enjoyable day on Monday. Shame the weather took the edge of the racing, but entertaining nonetheless. Also enjoyed watching the swans at Lakeside building up the nest and taking shifts on the eggs. Found if I stood in the right spot they were just in the right place so I could see them and the oncoming traffic at the same time.
Excellent company on post. Haven't laughed so much in ages, an endless fund of stories and anecdotes kept us cheerful through the rain. |
