Webber's Jaguar test
The morning seems to have gone quite well.
Only a few hundredths slower than de la Rosa. Although I have no idea about relative fuel loads and also the general testing program and how many laps Pedro did. Apparently most of Webber's running was in 2 or 3 lap stints and he did 28 laps. Check out Autosport.com for the full report. I know a lot of you are Webber fans, what do you reckon? Oh and both Jags were very slow! |

I reckon he did very well. At the end of the day he was .035 sec slower than regular driver, De La Rosa and was 0.2 sec faster than Irvine was the day before. He also did 10 laps less than Pedro. In his very first drive with the team in that car, I would say it's a strong performance.

I think Mark did well. People seem to forget he used to make that Mercedes fly

Don't forget, Webbers theme song 'I believe I can Fly' or 'Fly Away'!
As for the test, very well done and just more ammunition for us people who believe he is more talented than people give him credit for! |

I don't think anyone needs convincing that Mark is good. With that Asiatech lump, he has managed to out-qualify guys with more power and works engines, and in races, he has been able to keep up with some supposedly fast cars. I really, really pray that he will get a drive with Renault.

Mark was also in the old car, while De La Rosa and Irvine were both in the supposedly better R3b.

Well reports in the agency sites have qouted the other aussie we love Paul as saying "They have something we want and we have something they want" Which as per the story on f1live suggests that Paul maybe after the Cosworth supply that Jaguar has. Working on a year old deal like Sauber has with Ferrari. Also Niki Lauda has been quoted as saying that Irvine will not be there next year and they asked Flavio for some young bucks for appraisal. As for mark testing for Toyota this year "NO WAY NOT POSSIBLE" and that was from a discussion on his website last monday night direct from the horses mouth.

Paul Stoddart wants to do a part trade for Mark Webber to lessen the cost of the Cosworth engines - I believe Webber is contracted to him for next year, and Flavio still gets a cut of his salary...
As for a year old engine, I don't know anything about that - I was under the impression that Cosworth would be supplying two teams equal engines, a la Arrows this season. Jordan are also interested in the Cosworths for next season... |

Could this be like the old days (remember those? *dreams*) when Ford engines powered half the grid?!?!

Webber & Yoong dosen't get a single cent from PS, so they are living with the money they get form their sponsors. Flavio wanna cut from what then?
Yeah..and then half the grids will be the backmarkers lapped by the front runners and midfielders Gimme a break....Ford's engine ain't like it used to be |

Ford's engine is surprisingly good - just lacks a decent car to put it in.
Yoong isn't managed by Flavio Briatore. But Webber is - if he isn't receiving anything at Minardi, then all the more incentive to place him somewhere where he WILL get something... |
