Assen TT - Barros Almost Won!

Toni Elias produced his best ride yet in the 250cc class with a superb second place, his first visit to the podium. Although he diced with Melandri early on, he stood little chance of holding on to the flying Italian, but it was a mature ride from the youngster, and he managed to hold off a flying Rolfo at the end. The Yamahas are getting more competitive with each round and perhaps a podium is not far off for the Petronas squad. It was certainly a fantastic ride by Porto. Meanwhile, German legend Ralf Waldmann made his first start in nearly 2 years. For Australians, Casey Stoner made another shocking start, but rode beautifully through the field to take 8th place. If he gets his starts right, he's surely be a podium contender. Quote:

thought rossi was playing with barros and it was only a matter of time before he blew past on the start finish line. those 4 stroke's are bloody quick! good ride by barros though.
just want everyone to be on a 4 stroke now....... |

You could see what happened when Rossi used full throttle, it was so easy for him to get passed Barros, but riding out front for 19 laps is just too boring for Valentino ;-)

But, and this is from someone who has ridiculed Alex in the past, I thought he road great, head down bum up and consistent. Passed two bikes down the inside early in the race within two corners. Great stuff. And from memory one of them was Rossi.
But it was not to be. Valentino was just doing a Doohan. Save the tyres and wait to the end to make it stick. And the guy is just what 21 or 22? |

Yes,Barros did well(fantastic move) but Rossi was just playing with him,as for Rossi saving his tyres he was actually laying down a fair bit of rubber I thought!!

I know what you're saying but Rossi could have took Barros any time over the start/finish straight. IMHO!!

He slipstreamed him, no need for that with the 4 stroke!
He must have been awfully fast, Rossi was very impressed by his riding. It did not look easy for Rossi there. |

I think he needs to think long and hard about what it is he wants! It seems that he is giving up when the others passes him, he slows down........is he tired?! |

The Suzuki is still developing, but Kenny is always complaining about the bike. He even complained when he won the title that the bike wasn't good enough!

Winther > Although Barros was doing a superb job, giving it all he got (his passes and especially the one round the outside of the blind highspeed Ramshoek-corner totally awesome!) Rossi was following him almost with his eyes shut. Rossi was driving upright, closing throttle early, braking early. Piece of cake, walk in the park, that sort of thing. With a bike like that it's easy to take it that easy.

Rossi is showing his brains as a rider sitting back like he does. If he just took off and rode into the distance, he'd easily lose concentration and could in fact fall off (yes, even Rossi can fall off occassionally!!)
But sitting back, conserving tyres and also have a bit of fun, Rossi then just lets it rip like he usually does about 5 laps from home and does it easy. |

Hmm anyways I think I am done with GP this season.
It is just so boring that it almost rivals F1 in boredom. Until they get more new riders and more even bikes. Another Honda Gp has taken place...............zzzz wake me up when Rossi is Worldchamp again. |

Winther you just can't say that,yes ok Rossi infront all the time is boring but there's plenty going on in the race eg Barros giving it some just last weekend.

It is boring!!
SuperSport is way more race than Gp or SBK is right now!! And I can say that....boring! So I guess I will talk to you guys in 2003?!? Winther signing out of season 2002! |
