Anti-roll bar and drop links
Hi Guys'n'gals
I race a FWD saloon car with standard ARB and wish to stiffen up roll resistance slightly. A thicker ARB doesn't seem to be available from another model, nor is it possible to use a sliding joint on the ARB without inclining the drop link excessively. Seeing as the drop link attaches to the lower wishbone what would the effect to roll resistance be if the drop link attachment point was moved towards either the inner wishbone pivot or further out towards the hub ? |

I would expect to find some stiffer ARB from a the same car with an other engine, but if you are top of the sporty line than your right.
Moving the droplink to the outside would give you a better motion ratio, that would help a little bit. Of course, moving it towards car center on the wishbone has opposite effect. |

Bolt two of the same together (run them in parallel)

Have one made with possibility to use sliding joint (if there is room for it).

So the plan of attack so far is threefold
1) read up on drop link motion ratios 2) drill new hole and relocate the drop link mounting point on the lower wishbone further outboards towards the wheel (slight increase in motion ratio) 3) buy some new standard drop links which fit to the strut - I believe this should give me 1:1 motion ratio. Driving 3 or 4 laps with each set up should suffice - along with an observer with camera at a tight corner on the circuit. |
