Early days but apart from Lotus and Caterham who look barely able to get the car running, the rest look more reliable now.
Plenty of laps complete, so maybe our calls of carnage are wrong. Could be 15 still finish the race. |

It was never going to be crazy attrition on reliability alone.
Talking of Australia, remember the final race at Adelaide? Panis 2nd in the Ligier and Morbidelli 3rd in the Arrows! |

How many were running at the end?
How many out due to drivetrain failures? |

Apparently Kobyashi didn't know either, he admitted it was his fault and apologized to Felipe in an interview prior to going to see the stewards who found his rear brakes didn't work apparently! Given the grid penalties for broken engines and gearboxes, the penalties handed out for allegedly exceeding the fuel flow rate, the penalties for losing a wheel, it would seem consistent that a major technical failure that the driver admitted responsibility for (????) should also attract a grid penalty! Yeah, live it was hard to judge but there was definitely something wrong with the car.
Not the F1 return he was hoping for, but can't put the blame on him. It's good to have him back on the grid. |

Yep. But that's no fun is it?
http://sniffpetrol.com/2014/01/21/ko...-for-caterham/ I should probably point out here that I actually like Kobayashi - he's a proper racer not just a 'sit behind someone and hope they make a mistake' driver. |

I've taken my unedible hat out of the fridge and put it back in the wardrobe.

It did look odd in the overheads - he wasn't going any faster than anyone else, and yet his fronts locked instantly. Good to know it wasn't a driver error, but I guess he would have thought so at the time given the circumstances.
