Great to hear that you enjoyed the trip and you found time to visit Catalina and experience some of its history and nature.

As I predicted earlier the magic of the Mountain has grabbed you big time and your plans to return are underway-great news.
Next year plan to drop into SMSP on your way...and the year after Gnoo Blas at Orange, just up the road a bit !

Great job sandgroper! My first trip to The Mountain was in 1985 and enjoyed it so much I'm still going!

FYI
The old Vale circuit is not far from Mt Panorama either....

Worth a wander.

Just watching the Bathurst "wrap up" on fox. I must say what I did miss being at the track compared to TV was the "in car cameras" and some of the Pit Lane Interviews which we don't get a lot of being at the track.

DIDNT miss the Supercheap Auto adds though

Bathurst had 3 motor bike race circuits besides the Mount and the Vale circuit is the best remembered. It was about 12k in total and takes in mainly public roads-well worth a look even though development has changed the scenery a bit over the years.

The other circuits were the Peel and Sunny Corner circuits - both started at Kelso and ran on public roads that you can still travel on today.
The Peel circuit was about 33k whilst the Sunny Corner circuit was a mammoth 100k out through Palmers Oaky.

.....and if you want to look at another car circuit you can drop into Towac Park Racecourse in Orange after doing a lap of Gnoo Blas.
Not sure how much of the track is still visible in the middle of the horse track as it has not been used for many years for either racing or rallycross.

Maybe you should come over for the 12 hour and/ or Bathurst Motor Festival at Easter with the 6 hour production tourer race as part of the programme !

Corporate tickets for the track cost $1098 each which seems a lot but when it was our first ever Bathurst event it was well worth it.
This included
Free Cap = wohoooo LOL
Program for each person
VIP Parking & Entry for all 4 days
Thursday & Friday Gate Entry and Paddock Passes only
Saturday Sunday Pit Lane Boxes from 8am until 6.30pm
Bar opens from 10.30 till 6
All drinks included (other than spirits)
Morning Tea
Dinner
Desert
Afternoon Tea

I now have discounts for next year saving $105 per ticket. These corporate tickets can be given to different persons on any given day.

When I was going to pay possibly $600 or so to sit in the open grandstand for the 4 days I thought this was money well spent considering Saturday and Sunday included food. I understand that some people will think this is expensive but for a 1 off for some Bathurst Virgins Im happy to spend the coin.
Sounds like a bargain for the fun you had and the memories you will keep from the trip
