Maybe if you didn't reload the navigation stuff every time. I know there are people who don't like frames, but it would speed it up and still be able to navigate.

You can rest assured that i won't be going over to a frames based site! I think that they have thir uses, but navigation of a site is not one of them. I tried them on another site which I run and then regretted it - spent many hours reworking the site to use tables instead.
