So Gavrilov will race in TCR Europe this season. Well, the WTCR would have been a huge jump for him and a small team. And choosing the Audi over the i30 is probably better current BoP wise.

One of the most interesting news from the last weeks.
Will Zeng? have 5 Cupras, one running in TCR Europe for Dani? Or is this one of the four cars entered for WTCR, doing the TCR Eu. season opener as a test too? Or he will be their 4th WTCR driver too? My Hungarian sources were really silent about this, and really surprised us as the split between Zeng? and Nagy wasn't in the best mood. https://www.touringcartimes.com/2021...iaring-opener/ So what questions do we have have before the season? 1. Can Briché and his team collect the needed funding? 2. Will John Filippi run in other series beside his eTCR program with Hyundai? 3. Are BRC out of TCR Eu? Probably yes, but staying on the Italian Hyundai front, with the expanded TCR Italy program and Backmans stepping up to WTCR will Target stay? Things are quiet around Sapag too. Sorry, my reply was posted twice.
But as I'm editing it, on the Hungarian side of things, we don't really now too much about Szabó Zsolt, who was planning a bigger program in TCR Europe last year, but Covid messed up his plans. But he has quite ok backing and we can never count him out as a possible entrant, even for the 4th Zeng? seat in WTCR. Last edited by Csaba; 3 May 2021 at 15:59. |

So here we have the entry list for this weekends first round. Basically no new driver or unconfirmed team. 22 cars, which is ok, but nothing impressive. I'm a bit disappointed for the JSB team and Julien missing. We will see if more (not just wildcard) drivers will join for the later rounds. |

Very good quality overall, I think there 8-9 drivers able to win the championship! A bit oh a shame to not see Julien Briché in this season because he was a really good touring car driver, very fast and aggressive
Anyway, I predict Azcona will be flyiing in this first round but I'm very curious to see the Elantra in action. Also the olde RS3 will be very fast in Slovakia, maybe faster then the new Elantra who knows... |

Don't expected Coronel pole but I was sure the game was between Audi and Cupra
I'm sure the new Elantra are struggling with the set up because also in the USA they are not really convincing right now. And I'm sure that the new car has been realized with the aim to get the best from the BOP to boost the car Anyway for now just a flop with this new tyres, but very happy to see Jelmini cutting the gap and finishing in decent position with the best time in the team A bit disappointed by Young but surprised by the pace of that young spanish, Isidro Calleja! Also good job by Girolami, the brother of the WTCR driver Nestor! |

Dominant win by Azcona.
I am sure the Elantra becomes a front runner. Langeveld already showed good pace. |

Missing Mark James in commentary, but the ex TCR Germany commentator is improving at least.
Racing was decent. Mikel Azcona put on a clinic in the Cupra. |

How about that? Reigning champion gets his first race win in TCR Europe.

Agreed, Comini made it fun. Also helped that he's fluent in several languages, so was able to translate.

There were some great battles at Paul Ricard earlier.

Nice Race 1 in Zandvoort. Audi was very fast and it was nice to see Coronel doing great overtakes in his home race
