BMWs had too much power? I thought Alfa won the championhip?
Volvo just seemed to struggle through most of the season? It wasn't until the end that it showed promise, but then program was cancelled. It's really sad. Sighh...

I meant to much power as in to much influence over the rules

FoMoCo as GM

Cadillac pulls out of prototype racing just as success is beginning to come their way. Volvo cans the touring car project just as they are beginning to become serious challengers. Two equally foolish decisions.

Last I recall, I thought the deal was Ford=WRC, Volvo=touring cars. But that leaves the qeustion of Mazda. There were rumors that Mazda may enter LeMans again with an LMP, to rekindle their last Mazda victory in '91 or '02?

Team Hotfiel are hoping to enter a Ford Mondeo, instead of the previously rumoured Focus ST170 (?). I think Ford Germany are keen to support the team.
But hopefully the S60s will definitely return with a private team. One tea, will be best, to maximise development. I hope Rydell drives for this new team..

That is great to hear they will race the Mondeo instead of a Focus hatchback. Actually, I wouldn't mind a Focus sedan either. I'm thinkin a Focus sedan would be better sized?
SO what is the motorsport experience/history of Team Hotfiel? Has Wolfe or Eggenberge Racing (who previously raced ST Mondeos) considered racing in the ETCC?

It's not only sad that the works Volvo's are out, but the Anderstorp ETC round might be in trouble, as Volvo would be the suppier of money to update the Anderstorp track to conform with the circuit inspection for 2003.

The Hotfiel Team has close links to the factory, but they don't have the funds to develop the Mondeo and run a team for the complete ETCC

a decision about Team Hotfiel's plans will be made by Christmas.

any news on who is likely to get the Volvo deal?

what about Picko Troberg? Wasn't he heading to the ETCC in 2003?
