McNish on his IRL test (pics inside)

"It was a great experience" said McNish after completing 350 miles in the car. "I'm pleased to have run speeds that would have been competitive during last March's event, especially as I had the 2003 engine spec and chassis set up on the car." "At the end of the day I completed a 35 lap stint in which I was consistently lapping between 216 and 218 mph. It's quite a physically and mentally demanding track, but I enjoyed the fast pace and the flow of driving on the oval. The Penske team were extremely supportive and gave me plenty of encouragement. We completed a short test programme as well giving me a chance to run at speed, so overall it was a very productive day. I enjoyed my time in the car and it's fired my enthusiasm - I think it would be fun to experience IRL in race conditions! I must thank everyone at Penske and Toyota for giving me this great opportunity."  sounds like he enjoyed it- i would love to see Allan in the IRL, i think he would do really well. |

Allan would be an asset to ANY series. I hope he lands a good ride in whichever series he goes to.

Great photos. But let's face it....they guy says he likes ovals because he is out of a job and currently auditioning for one. Going from F1 where the cars are extremely light and manueverable to an IRL car which is heavy, slow and unmanueverable.....his words were just words.
