Imola track changes?
There was talk last year in the racing press that Imola was going to undergo a series of track modifications to return Imola to some of its "former glory".
Included in these proposals was to; make tamburello tighter, straighten the Villeneuve Kink, by-pass the Variante Alta (back chichane) completely (I forget its name) and by pass the next chichane (Variante Bassa the current final corner) - and make the final corner Rivatzza (that 2nd gear left hander). Does anyone know what has happened to these planned alterations? |

im not sure if they went through with them or not.
Im sure most people would love to see changes to this chicane filled circuit, but judging by the lack of news articles or reports on the subject, i dont think anything has happened. It should though. Heck, even Silverstone is said to have a few changes done to it for this year. |

Unfortunantly, both the planned changes (improvements) to Silverstone and Imola will not be taking place. Silverstone new infield has been cancelled, Imola is awaiting funding.
Shame |

I think both Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari and Silverstone Circuit are OK the way they are. Especially Silverstone.

Isn't Imola going to be dropped from the calendar soon anyway? One of the Italian rounds has got to go to make room for the new circuits (I know officially it's the 'San Marino' grand prix but it's just Itlay 2 isn't it?)

Silverstone's new infield is well on target DNQ - big changes 70% complete.
Without chicanes, Imola would be dangerously fast. |
