Plus, they can give it full fuel, and run the traditional - and in theory fastest - 1 stop strategy.

30g's is bad but not terribly bad, McNish did 70+ in Suzuka. Button mustve been on the gas a bit too long to get the BAR upto 294kmph out of the tunnel, driver error most likely. We'll see what he can do from the back of the grid tommorow, maybe it would have been better to let Sato qualify and race.

That is if Sato had actually bothered to be at the circuit. I wonder where he is?

On Dutch TV Richards commented that he didn't find it fair to Sato to put him in a car on a circuit like this, without any preparation whatsoever. Remember, this is one-lap quali, completely different from previous years.

Bad news from f1-live:
According to very relaible sources in the Monaco Paddock this morning, British American Racing driver Jenson Button will not be taking part in this afternoon's Monaco Grand Prix, the young Brit failing to get complete medical clearance after yesterday’s high speed accident, however we are still awaiting official confirmation from the Brackley based squad. Doesn't it seem sad that drivers like Fisichella, Coultard, Barrichello, and Ralf all have secure seats in F1, despite having had race winning cars for many more seasons than Jacques, yet failing to chalk up as many wins as he (let alone a WDC) that it is Jacques who doesn't have a drive in F1??? Sad indeed. |

But if that is true Richards will feel even more foolish for not letting Sato qualify!

Sato was in London yesterday, so wouldn't have had a chance to qualify.
But even without Sato, they also had Anthony Davidson...where was he? Last edited by Marcel ten Caat; 1 Jun 2003 at 09:39. |

The spin machine was already started by Richards and Willis yesterday. If Button doesnt race be prepared to hear a bunch of bull**** (damage control) from BAR. Theres no legitimate reason why Sato or Davidson werent suited up and ready to go. Race is in 3 hours so Button can still be cleared, we'll see what happens.

That's unfortunate for both Button & BAR but it's better to be on the safe side with Button's health.

I thought Ant was with the Ferrari people testing for Le Mans.
