I tried to give you all a wave at Snet, Brands, Thruxton and even Anglesey. But only after the race, not during ....
Only 'our nige' seemed to be able to manage that ! |

That wasn't a wave. It was to turn the ignition off!

We went on the Sunday and had a reasonable time getting in and out. Reasonable as in, nothing like Rockingham 2001 which was a joke.
Some of the drivers did wave to the crowd, I have a photo of Schumacher M doing so. But I must admit most of them were embroiled in deep conversation. I thought the crowd were pretty apathetic though, exactly as Murray Walker said at the start of the Drivers' Parade. The only noise came at the end of the Grand Prix. In particular, I was in Stowe, and at most of the support races, no-one even batted an eyelid. Most people couldn't even be bothered to clap the winning drivers. Great race though, one of those rare ones that has a bit of everything (except rain). One you can fondly remember in years to come. Interestingly they had health food catering vans at one of the corners (possibly Club, but can't remember which). It's about time :-) |

One of my friends had several children (all he could find) lined up against the wall/armco for the driers parade as he does every year. I think that this is such a good thing for public relations and also it makes the kids day! Its a shame that you were refused permission stephen!
I had no probmlems getting in or out but that was due to the fact that i was staying on the marshals campsite! I don''t think that there were as many people there as in previous years. I was told that at becketts the grandstand was half empty and you could pick a spot on the banking that is usually packed! It was a great race and I hope that there are many more like that in the future! Last edited by chezza; 26 Jul 2003 at 10:30. |
