Flippant thread
I see in the photo accompanying the story of McLaren confirming the same drivers for next year in this week's Autosport (August 28), Wurz is wearing matching (black and white) boots. Has McLaren killed his free-living spirit, or does Uncle Ron not pay enough for Alex to buy twice as many boots as he needs?

I don't consider wearing different boots as proof of having a free-living spirit! Or not wearing them of not having a free-living spirit!

Perhaps I need to re-evalute the free-ness of my living--but I always aspired to having non-matching race boots!

I also remember Montoya (and other Ganassi drivers) having to wear a red and a yellow gloves. Did they also have different boots? |

Alex used to wear different coloured boots before he joined Mclaren. Something about being a messy devil and 2 different boots were the first to come to hand then he had a good race wearing odd boots, so the tradition stuck.
Ron Dennis decided that it didn't fit company image (and i presume that Alex is no longer a messy devil too ) |

Montoya wore different color gloves, but I think Vasser maintained his black ones

ALEXANDER WURZ WEARS TWO DIFFERENT COLOURED BOOTS RED (LEFT) AND BLUE (RIGHT)
FOR LUCK. DAVID COULTHARD ALWAYS GET'S INTO HIS F1 CAR WITH HIS RIGHT FOOT FIRST FROM THE LEFT SIDE OF THE CAR. NIGEL MANSELL NEVER LET ANYONE TOUCH HIS HELMUT BEFORE A RACE. STEFANO MODENA USED TO DRIVE WITH ONE OF HIS RACING GLOVES INSIDE OUT. |

Although Mansell probably did, if anybody tried to touch his helmet. (Unless you meant Helmut Kohl which is a whole different subject.)
