japanese F3: Courtney champion
James Courtney, winning both the races of last round at Sugo, claimed the japanese title in advance.
10 races won out of 16.... Regardless any possible comments about the level of competition, let me congratulate him! |

Indeed. Good for Courtney after a miserable time in British F3. Where now? Let's hope he doesn't get stuck in Formula Nippon a la Marco Apicella.

Could Courtney return to british F3 - he was close to the title - has had a refresher in the land of the rising sun. He has a point to prove. I would love how he would go again in British F3 or F3000 ?

Congrats to James
Don't see much point of him coming back to British F3, from what I've read on here is there much point in F3000? |

On the other hand, if he did British F3 again and won the title, he could look to F3000 in 2005, by which time its future might be a bit more settled. But he'd be like Minassian in F3000 this year; if he did F3 again, only a title would do. I suppose the F3 Euroseries would be a possibility too.

I thought he already had a top line seat in Nippon lined up for next year which he was hoping would get him noticed again by F1 team management ?.....and i thought he was going to be doing some Japanese GT races as well at the same time

But, Firman aside, Formula Nippon doesn't seem to be the F1 nursery it was in the early to mid-90s (Salo, Irvine, Schumacher R, de la Rosa etc.).

most likely formula nippon in 2004 - no reason to do british f3, he has already shown he can win in that class. surely his f3 days are behind him now

and another win for courtney...what a surprise
Results from Mine Race1 : 1.Courtney 2. Kataoka 3. Montin 4. Quintarelli funny thing is, that the order they finished is exactly the same as the championship standings...imo kataoka has secured his vice chmapionship today, i doubt that any of the italians can catch him...he´s 12 points in the lead and unless he drops out....they wont make it |

I'd say something like Super Nissan, Nippon, F3000 or CART would be the only series he'd be interested in. Although, if Toyota do in fact pick him up, we could see him lost to the MGR (Merry Go Round) series (IRL).
There is no point James having anything to do with F3 on any continent in 2004. |
