Steve McQueen in BTCC

I understand Steve McQueen raced in the BTCC at Brands Hatch on year in a Mini. Anyone any recollections or even images?

In William F. Nolan's biograpghy of McQueen he wites about him driving on British circuits such as Aintree, Oulton Park and Brands Hatch and receiving tuitition from Stirling Moss. McQueen is quoted describing an accident he had at Brands Hatch while driving a Mini Cooper. This was in 1961 at the time he was filming 'The War Lover' in Britain. There is no mention of it being a BTCC race.

I have a picture somewhere, I will see if I can find it. BMC organised Sir John Whitmore to look after him, and guide him racing wise whilst he was over here.

I remember seeing McQueen racing at Aintree in the support race to the '200' in - I think, 1961. As far as I can remember he drove a 'works' A-H Sprite (a Sebring maybe ?) in a sports car race won by Jack Sears in an Aston Martin DB4.
I think Christabel Carlisle was S.McQ's team mate in that one but it's all a long time ago, and I was VERY young then !
