Tony George and Tag Heuer to make "major" announcment on Feb 3rd

From sarahfisher.com
...In other news, Sarah will be in New York City on Tuesday for a major announcement with IRL President Tony George, 2003 IRL Season Champion Scott Dixon and TAG Heuer President and CEO Jean-Christophe Babin. Please look for updates on Tuesday and Wednesday...

So, we've got the president of Tag Heuer making an announcment with the president of the Indy Racing League. The current IndyCar Champ is there too, along with Sarah Fisher, who has Tag Heuer as a personal sponsor.

It cant be something like Sarah getting a full time ride next year, why would Mr George and Scott Dixon be there?

Hmm....

Can you say...series sponsor?

Everyone run out and buy a Tag Heuer watch!!!

Interesting

I'm thinking it's an announcement for Tag Heuer becoming the official Timing & Scoring provider, rather than series sponsor though (which in itself wouldn't be too shabby).

Maybe they'll be starting the timing to see how long they can take to kill off OWRS and 'unite' US racing. Sarah's a great weapon in this - female and popular, and who will notice that she's not that fast?

This is tremendous news.

Whether its the official timekeeper, or series sponsor, it is big news to have such a respected company like Tag in your series.

Where in NYC will this happen and will it be open to the public? I'm off on Tuesday, I'd love to go and see it live!

As good as it would be to have them as the timing ans coring providier, I wouldnt consider that a "major" announcment. Certianly wouldnt need to Bring Scott and Sarah along for that.

I've got my fingers crossed that it's a series sponsor announcment

By the way, whatever this is its good news for Sarah - since TH are clearly getting more involved, maybe they could sponsor a car for her to drive at Indy...?

Interesting, good news for them- but do sponsors who do motorsports really in the know aout the split, possible unifications and such? or is it new Advertising Interns putting these things together
I hope sarah gets a ride, she isn't super fast, but a podium and a pole to her credit and if more people would give her seat time and equipment we can get a real driver yet- and her popularity is never bad for a series.

ditto gttouring, I'm not really interested at Tag as a series sponsor or so what, but it would be good if Sarah got a fulltime ride.

If its a sponsorship meeting for Sarah, then why is Dixon and Tony coming all the way to town?

Theres got to be more to this, I think(or hope!)

I found out that the announcement meeting tommorrow is a private affair, at the very swanky Mandarin Hotel in Manhattan.

I did my best to work my way into the meeting as a "reporter" for a famous sports/racing web-site, but to no avail! My "credentials" just weren't good enough!

I need better credentials to go along with this "reporter" gig! Cmon, somebody help me out here!
