This is sad news indeed.

This is a perfect example of why I dont really like homologation , but understand that it is nessessary .

Otherwise we might have seen Lister in the LMS or Fia GT ..... sad to see them go indeed !!!

I haven't seen any statements suggesting that the GT entry didn't go ahead due to homologation issues. Was such a statement made?

I dont recall a statement either , I just presumed that that was the reason why the Storm wasnt in the Fia Gt championship .

Out of interest ..... how many cars do you have to produce to satisfy homologation issues ?

The Storm isnt in the FIA GT Championship anymore because it is no longer competitve. Not because it doesent meet the homlogation requirements. A long time ago the FIA and Ratel gave the Lister Storm a special dispensation to run in the FIA GT Championship, mainly because there wasnt much competition around for the Vipers other than a few GT2 porsches. The Lister raced right through that era and on into another against the 550's etc. Sadly though it is no longer competitve against the likes of the MC12 or DBR9 or C6R. It will be a sad day in motorsport history when Lister finally does close its doors offically.

It is 12 (road) cars for small manufacturers in GT1.

Whomever the financier of this project, and Lister/Pearce themselves would have known about the homologation requirements, and must have accounted for them in their plans. My presumption is that the money tree dried up, as it has for other things Lister.

Wasn't there a rumor at Le Mans in 2006 that they were moving to GT?

Ohhh... It was Lister that sparked off my interest in this wonderful form of motorsport in the first place. I still love the wonderful sights and sounds of the Storm GT car.

This is very, very sad news.

I seem to remember at the start of '07 that Ratel gave the Lister a single year extension to it's homologation period...? Or did I just dream that up?

Hang on; did Lister run that Pescarolo this year? They didn't, did they. When did they buy it?

The tub (and 2006 bodywork) was bought in 2006 from the batch of 2007 Pescarolo tubs (which included the Rollcentre and Kruse tubs). The car was scheduled to be completed around July time this year with a Le Mans Series race debut in the second half of the season. It was later revealed that the car wouldn't race until 2008, which pretty much brings us to the point we are at now with the announcement that the entire project is for sale.

I think that they stopped producing road cars after the production of the Lister Storm stopped.

I guess its the end of an era in a way - a very, very sad situation. They were a great British team and Laurence Pearce a fantastic character at the track. I really hope that he can reconstitute things in some way or other as Sportscar racing is very much poorer without him.

Sad affair, really. Always loved the Lister cars and always rooted for them. Sorry to see them leave that way.

Especially a new GT1 would have been fantastic.

Crikey things must be really bad at Lister, they are flogging of bits of the cars on ebay!

(I know Lister are not based in East Sussex and this is therefore not direct from the factory )
