My first ever day on Druids after 3 ish years at Oulton, and as expected it was great
The FF2000 incident caught me out a bit, saw him losing it & spinning onto the grass, and then from where we were stood almost level with the flag point he disappeared below view slightly where the ground isn't level, saw the flaggies move a bit rapidly, grabbed a powder and then C9/89 was flying past us with a "Go !!!" One very p!ssed off driver, thankfull unhurt after the impact, and as already said, good job by his mechanics to get it fixed up and out for the afternoon. The FF (car 4 I think a lap after he looked like he was sizing up to make a pass on the car in front), had a really close pass to the belting/tyre wall, when I looked after the race, it was literally a fingers width between the tyre track and the wall! Great day |

Had a great day at cascades, some really good racing and company from fellow marshals. My only gripe was the decision to send the legends heat 1 green again, 1 second we were asked to dress to oil under safety car, the next we were going green which was absolute suicide and ended up with 2 cars in the wall, have to say probably one of the stupidest decisions I've seen in a long time to be honest and was thankful fellow marshals and drivers weren't hurt, there was clearly oil out there which needed dressing and it was inevitable cars were going to go off, I'm just surprised more didn't do so.

Thanks to all at Clay Hill, good day on flagging, we were kept busy with the BMW's and CNC boys. Good clean racing as well, so thanks to all the drivers for putting on a good show.

I agree Dave, 100% There were two very good calls regarding the FF2000 race and the weather. The first was when we were red flagged as the rain came on during the 1st lap, a lot of Clerks would have just left us until there was a big accident. The second was when we were back in the assembly area, all on strange choices of tyres and set up because we had no access to the coditions around the circuit and the clerk decided to put us back a race until we had got a better grasp on things. To me those were first class calls completely regardless of delays to the programme.
The repairs to Toms mullered Van Diemen was a testimony to the friendliness of the formula, I think we all contributed in some way to get him onto the grid. We haven't heard from him since, but I suspect he didn't leap out of bed too suddenly on Sunday morning! |

As the I/O on druids I was happy to see him get out of the car all by himself and be in total grasp of all his faculties too! He was mighty peeved at himself, but that was a good indication to me he was relatively unhurt. Good to see him out in the race and a fine podium finish too!

Thank you to one and all on Old Hall. Relatively quiet, but an entertaining and enjoyable day with the usual action and on post banter.

Again for those who weren't there an example of why you dont stand too near the barriers and why photographers shouldn't leave there camera / monopod leaning against the barrier (Fortunately it still worked) |
