NW FF1600 Oulton 20th August - How many this time?
After having 64 cars out at Oulton yesterday from an entry of 66 [one test day casualty and one mid week withdrawal], I've got to wondering just how many will be out on 20th August.
I know of a handful who were out yesterday, but won't be next time due to petty inconveniences like family holidays. I also expect some who were missing yesterday to return. Let's also hope for more visitors from over the water and the various corners of the UK. My ambition now is to build on yesterday's numbers and come the Moose Trophy on 17th September, be able to give James Beckett a decent target to aim at come WHT time in November |

Just out of interest Diz - is the NWFF series the best supported out of all the FF's?
Always seem to be full grids |

There must be hundreds of cars just sitting under a sheet in the other regions [and a fair few in the NW as well] |

We were discussing this very thing yesterday and came to the conclusion that the big draw is Oulton Park and in particular the long circuit. In my opinion it is the best circuit available for the club racer to compete in, in the country. Furthermore it is within easy striking distance of a very large catchment area (NW, Midlands) and even not to far from Ireland.

Spot on that. Funny how grid sizes decreased when we were racing the Fosters circuit nearly every round...........
Good work by the BRSCC in spotting this though and they have to be commended for it. |

Whilst I'll never suggest that the Fosters configuration was ever "Easy" to drive - I'm sure that you drivers find the Full Circuit more of a challenge and therefore more rewarding when finishing?
Personally (As a non-competitor) I find the Fosters Circuit great fun and always incident-packed but is probably more suited to the likes of Legends! |

Funny you should mention that mark because we were discussing that as well. I was spectating on Saturday instead of competing as i have a shoulder injury and it is fair to say that the Fosters circuit is better from a spectators point of view. However from a drivers point of view it is the long one we all prefer. Although i do enjoy the the Fosters incarnation of cascades as it is very quick.

Timetable for this is now out. Post 1989 is Race 3 and Pre 1990 Race 8 (good news for me!). Again on the International circuit, the races this time will be over 15 minutes.

Where did you get the timetable from? It isn't on the BRSCC website - or at least the version that has reached tyhis far North..
Wouldn't you think they would let me know? |

I sold the Chevron a while ago hence why I still race FF1600... It has changed hands a number of times since I had it but I think it is back in Germany now. I was hoping to do a deal with Richard Ames for the same Chassis (B38) but they are not keen to rent it out which is fair enough. Still looking around for a good car as I would like to do the Gold Cup.
I will look at racing my Uncles car when he retires - if he ever retires. |
