I like it!...typical headline, hints at the content and reader prejudice, whilst at the same time being mostly unrelated to what is really happening!
I cannot help but think that it is bad timing with the christmas break giving people time to cool down and lose focus.

CAMS have formed a task force.

speedcafe article

I believe the task force have been issued with the following equipment.

1. A large Rug
2. A even bigger broom.

Interesting statement from the fireman again -- a task force to humour the "Victorians" and splinter " group" talk . What utter rubbish again -- it is the board and their appointments going into self preservation mode attempting to paint dissidents as the "group" out of step-- the motion was one of no confidence in the board-and calls on them to step down---- THAT IS THE ISSUE at hand -- that is what is required .

agreed!

even so, this so called "task force" is 18 months too late (after seeing some of the stats last monday, probably a lot longer actually), and is an all too easy and typical response from an organisation that is now riddled with bureaucracy...

My reading of the proceedings was NOT a 'no confidence' motion but one asking them to step down - two very different motions.

If the VIC's had any sense then they would have moved a motion of 'no confidence' as well which would have carried much greater weight than the convoluted discussion and motion David Mebblanger and Co put forward.

Much simpler and stated, in 2 words, exactly what they were trying to achieve.

This will now get buried and lost in the system as with anything else tried in the past.

It's very difficult to solve a problem when the problem is in control of the problem.

My recollection of the meeting was for unanimous support of the original motions calling for a spill of all board postions, admittedly, we are but one state, but for the admistration and board to merely form a " task force" (classic CFA wording btw, im surprised he didnt call it a strike team) sends a message to us Victorians that they are not taking this seriously, and think they can ride it through, I would encourage any delegate, council exec member or indeed the rank and file members of CAMS to make sure the pressure is not let up, I know I have already contacted members of the exec with my support and also reiterated to them "dont let up" the Victorian membership has given them the mandate to tackle the board head on, all we need now is the other states to follow

It just shows the knowledge of Papadopolous, doesn't it?

There again - does he acknowledge anything that happens outside of Eastern Creek or the ARDC as being real?

Description
In recognition of the remarkable achievements of Sir Jack Brabham OBE, the outstanding Australian engineer and driver who rose to the pinnacle of world motor sport, the Sir Jack Brabham award recognises outstanding achievement and success by an Australian motor sport competitor at the international level.
According to the listed criteria, I would have thought that Ambrose was a more than qualified recipient. Previous winners include Will Power in 2007 for his ChampCar achievements, and Cody Crocker and Ben Atkinson in 2006 for winning that year's Asia-Pacific Rally Championship.

I must admit, that like most politics, this whole issue went over my head. But thanks to an article I read in a certain car club's newsletter this evening, I now think I have a slight grasp on it. I may scan and post the article if I get a chance in the next few days for others to have that chance also.

CAMS Victorian Sport and Club Development Council Media Release

CAMS Board to consider broader "Task Force" review

* New "Task Force Delta" proposal a broader, independent review

MELBOURNE (Wednesday 3 February 2010) * The CAMS Board will consider on
Friday a more independent, open and transparent "Task Force" structure than
originally proposed, following a meeting of the CAMS Victorian Sport and
Club Development Council ("CAMS Victoria") on Tuesday 2 February.

This followed CAMS Victoria's rejection of the December 5 proposal by the
CAMS Board to create a "Task Force" to investigate concerns about the
governance and management of CAMS raised by CAMS Victoria.

The proposed "Task Force Delta", includes the appointment of an independent
chairman, broader terms of reference, and a widening of the inquiry to
consider submissions from all CAMS members and stakeholders.

If adopted by the CAMS Board, CAMS clubs and members from around Australia
will be asked to make submissions for consideration by Task Force Delta.

Topics included in the revised terms of reference include:
* Assessment of the transparency of the CAMS Board and administration in
dealing with concerns of state Sport and Club Development councils.

* Accountability of the Board to the stakeholder motor sport clubs.

* Accountability and performance measurement of the CEO and administration
by the CAMS Board.

* Suitability of strategic planning conducted by the CAMS.

* Assessing the performance of CAMS in light of the Australian Sports
Commission¹s best practice principles of governance.

* Performance by the CAMS administration in meeting the objectives of CAMS.

David Bellenger, Chairman of CAMS Victoria said, "The overwhelmingly clear
view of the Victorian clubs was that the Task Force as proposed was
incapable of producing a credible outcome. A credible outcome will only come
from an independent review of all concerns, not a selective review of only
some of the issues."

The original Task Force proposed by the CAMS Board listed the CEO has the
chairman, and limited the number of submissions to six. The Task Force Delta
proposal removes those constraints.

"The Task Force was originally presented as a viable solution by the Board.
Unfortunately, upon exploring the detail, appointing a chairman that could
potentially be a subject of the review, limiting the number of presenters to
exclude some concerned voices from being heard, and a lack of transparency
in the publication of any findings, has forced us to come up with another
solution," Bellenger added.

"We're hoping that the Board will embrace the opportunity to hear concerns
from the coalface of motor sport, and use the opportunity to improve motor
sport in Australia."

If adopted, CAMS is expected to announce details about the operation of the
Task Force following Friday¹s board meeting.
