If one can depend on weather forecasts - sometimes I doubt whether they can tell what it's currently like even by looking out of the window - it's looking as though both Saturday and Sunday will be dry with sunny periods.

You could quite easily flip that around and look at how much the grid in the Mini Challenge has shrunk since being on the TOCA package and how F4 has grown since introducing away rounds.

Anyway, Brands GP is always a good event. I'd be happy with either Hill or Ingram as champion. Would be nice to see a new champion in Hill actually.

completely irrelevent as we are talking about sports car categories and comparing apples for apples

He wasn't at TCR for Thruxton at all - hence why Jack Oliphant did all the comms beside McKewen, and Martin Haven covered for RJN on the rest of the bill.

One thing I will say about O'Neil. He knows everybody in both BTCC and TCR - the drivers, bosses, mechanics, and it's the same with all of the support championships (maybe not F4) with both BTCC and TCR. And the amount of midweek work coaching and the like - yeah, he squeals, but I think he's actually more clued up than most of the rest of the team, but because he can be loud, he seems a bit reigned in on BTCC compared to TCR, which is a shame.

I'd like to see him take the job that Lou Goodman has, with her taking Ryders role (unless he gives it another year of course.) Jade has been excellent, but if she can't get a drive then I'd love to see her go to Porsches, or even TCR (with no clashes next year that would work.

My unpopular opinion is I'd like to see a refresh in the comms box. Yes, Addison has great knowledge, but I just don't 'get it' ad Harvey, for me, not my taste, I think some youngr blood is needed as an ex-driver (you can all crucify me for that now) but Andy McKewen and Matt Neal would be good (I'd say Plato, but I don't think he'd be in the price range!!)

I don't think it'll be as low as 500 or less that the GT Supports sometimes pull in

Stupidly, they all demand their own stream instead of having one long stream through the day that might allow numbers to build and a longer time for the algorythms to throw them at people's feeds....so this really hurts their numbers

But I doubt even the lowest numbers for ITV4 are lower than the highest for Ginettas or GB4/3 (which seem to be dying on the vine, being offshoots of a ladder that no-one wants to climb any more) which get a couple of thousand at their highest.

It's just not a contest, the package the BTCC offers is so much better....

And when the timetable slips, nobody has any clue when the races are going to happen, which kills them even more.

I've been binging a lot of the races from 2007-2011 and ben edwards was such a fantastic commentator. Really miss him on the ITV coverage

Do you lot think you could have this TV coverage conversation in a thread that isn't about the final round?

For the final round we have David Addison and Tim Harvey in the comms box. I'd like to see them replaced personally, Ben Edwards was great back in the day, but his trackside commentary at Snetterton wasn't so good. He simply wasn't prepped enough. Although if he was prepped for this weekend I'd have him back.

Sorry Greem - ;-) !!

I think Tim's an essential part of the team. Extremely knowledgeable and always willing to share interesting technical information that other commentators might not, plus he is enthusiastic, cheerful and funny. David's quite funny too at times and they bounce well off each other. Agree Ben Edwards was great.

Sorry from me too Greem!

“Not prepped” try Martin Haven - his Silverstone Festival commentary was the most appalling I have ever heard - that coupled with the American “the 55 car” that is creeping in be careful what one wishes for

BTCC - 20
Dan Zelos is on the entry list so potentially has secured the necessary funding.

PCCGB - 22
Grid back down to normal levels. 11 Pro, 8 Pro-Am, 3 Am

British F4 - 20
Return of Pulling and Lloyd. Only Thomas Bearman continues from the Silverstone guest entries.

MINI JCW - 14 JCW and 5 JCW Sport
Zelos is still on the JCW entry list. Most season regulars in both classes are seeing out the season. Frankie Taylor, Harry Hickton and Anthony Sullivan join JCW, Lee Allen is in the Sport guest car.

Sprint Challenge - 15 RS and 10 CS
Regular RS grid. CS entry list features the returning Caitlin Wood (who has been entered a couple of times this year, but not raced since Snetterton so could be a similar story) and the debut of Jodie Sloss.
Thanks again for taking the time to post this through the year

It's not American, it's more from short oval racing and I much prefer it because it immediately lets you know which car they're talking about and you can lock eyes on it and see what its up to at short notice, instead of the commentator trying to show off how many stats he knows about their last results, entry, where they're from, what their dog is called and their favourite foods all while the driver is spectacularly hanging it around the outside of another driver and making the pass of the season

Excitement should always come first, stats can come later.

Meanwhile, Paul O Neill has gone on a rant on the ITV live stream during the mini race, including a very Partridge moment where he mentioned "No doubt I'll get another e-mail from someone at the BTCC telling me to leave it out again".....I rest my case, except to say if he is this animated about official decisions then its time he left the commentary box and started working for race control if he thinks he can do better.

Yes, i didnt quite understand why he was so upset about the piece of Recticel on the circuit compared to the mini which was left directly in the firing line. As for the other commentator making the comment that any car that hits the piece of recticel would roll..... No comment.

You really have got problems, haven't you?

Advantage Ingram tomorrow then. Even if Hill gets a great launch, Ingram’s still going to be ahead off the start. Don’t think he’ll get by at any point but we’ll see!

The grid is set up very nicely because WSR could play some games with Turkington backing up Ingram into Hill, a bit like Vauxhall did with Matt Neal in 2009, for example. A bit of rain would be nice.

Nice to see Colin on pole and get the Wingfoot award, he really is the king of qualifying. The race to the first of the corner will be frantic, with the two main title contenders close it should be on
