Peter I just checked your site. I guess everybody who sat in a racecar before doesn't like to trash drivers. I give credit to everybody who deserves one, and lets be hones, even the worst driver in F1 is better than we ever will. As a matter of fact I consider even Yoong a solid driver, because what he just did in CART was pretty credible. Sorry for the offtopic comments. :-)
Cheers, |

Ah, if only I could have been as good as Yoong.

Oh by the way I raced historic cars in the US, and also did some FF in Germany back in the days and some carting in Hungary, so that how I believe that I know racing. I also worked in the motorsports management business not to long ago, so that is the reason I follow this sport so closely. Hmm I guess after reading this back I am the true citizen of the world :-))).

Right, my turn:
I enjoyed Ralfs drive, I thought it very impressive. I enjoyed seeing his demeanour before and after the race. Either he has come out of some sort of shell recently, or he just enjoys being the main man. Either way, it’s good to see. I was disappointed with JPM for slowing down towards the end. He would not have been able to capitalize on any small problems that Ralf might have had. I also think that if Williams had issued orders they would have said so. I thought the lollipop man during the botched DC pitstop was a right wally. The lollipop was up and down like a yo-yo, but always in the wrong position. Finally he held it down but waved DC on by hand. Ridiculous. I thought the French did a great job with the national anthems on the podium. They seemed to have stitched the two together, and they even had a stylish rendition of the British, which usually sounds really dirge-like, and makes you want to slash your wrists. Finally, I would implore people to ignore the pleas of the ITV announcers and stay away from the Brit. GP. That is the only way to get them to reduce those horrendous prices. Don’t forget, Silverstone got that boat-load of money from somewhere, (forget now – I can’t usually be bothered to follow the arguments) but they went and spent it on a great big glass palace for the BRDC big-wigs, which really shows where their priorities lie. Whenever you see a tv shot of the main straight, the whole place still looks third-rate. The track layout is horrible now, compared to what it used to be, and they need to understand that they don’t have a god-given right to hold a GP just ‘cos they’re British. The new access roads are greatly improved, but those ticket prices have got to come down. The tifosi stayed away from their GP earlier this year; if Silverstone is full, then I’m sorry, but the speccies deserve everything they get. They’re mugs. |

Ralf has definately proved that he can be fast and can dominate when he is on. The only thing he hasn't proved, however, is that he can deal with traffic and overtaking and be successful.
I am not bashing Ralf, I am just saying that in his career he still hasn't proven that he can compete consistently with the top drivers in F1. Maybe he will prove it in the last half of this season, but it is still yet to be seen. However, he is now a definate institution in the WDC with Williams looking like they have the best car as of late. Can Williams keep this up? Can Ralf prove he is a WDC calibre driver? We'll have to see. |

I am fairly sure that Ralf and Juan have a gentleman's agreement that all gloves are off until the final pitstop is complete when they just hold station. That is why they always are aggressive early on, although not as much lately, and try to out pace each other.
Unfortunately Ralf has a gentleman's agreement with Michael, where he keeps the gloves permanently on. (IMHO) |

Last year I think, partly brought in by (S)Frank Williams to confirm that they COULD race, but he did want them to finish.
It was to help clear the air a bit after the issue of teams orders came into being, and Ralf and Juan were crashing, and it laid a sort of loose rule that encouraged racing but emphasised getting a result. |

Crashing! They did that practically every race I'm sorry I don't see it. Why not just say what they always say, don't take each other out. That is the only team order they have.
I don't see it. Sorry. |

I don't go much on Ralf, he is the famous name looking for some talent to go with it. But then, maybe persistence does pay off? He is certainly making my position more tenuous.

Had to bring this one back because I was on holiday when the race was on and missed my usual gloating period. So I'll do it now instead: GO RALF!!!! And to those who say he didn't overtake anyone: you don't need to when you're already at the front. Who knows, it could be 'hat' on the menu for the Ralf-bashers come the end of the season. |
