Ralf is at it again!
Another prime example of why he should shut up and drive rather than opening his mouth and whinning.
"I don't think Juan Pablo is the best among ourselves, winning a race is completely different from being on top for the entire season. In reality Montoya and I are at the same level." has said Ralf during an interview with the Bild am Sonntag. "Williams outfit has always been known as the team with two good drivers and I think it is the right strategy. Naturally I would prefer to be the team's number one driver." Tell me please how Ralf would know about being on top for the entire season?? I am a Williams fan and am getting really ****ed off at his selfishness and unwillingness to compete as a team! |

Naturally, everybody would, but...
What it is it with Lil Bro and that 'no1' issue? Why is he talking so much about it? How com no one else talks about it? Even his big brother never talks about it, and I don't remember him ever talking about it. Isn't that something you have to earn? |

Frank Williams does not have a #1 or #2 driver in his team. But, I think that his performance will relegate Ralf to the #2 position by mid 2002. |

i think its too early for him to be making such comments. let him outperform jpm properly for atleast half a season before making such claims. he's going to cut a sorry picture if jpm does better than him next season. of course in any case its better not to make such comments and then appear foolish (which seems inevitable).

The mind war already begun, Ralf is right shooting at the press, before the season begins. He has a teammate with a confident attitude, and this is a way to try to break him...
Go on Ralfie. |

Actually, his behaviour is beginning to verge on the psychotic. (Dr. Austin, we need your professional opinion on this.) I can see two reasons for all of these statements: (1) He is scared to death that JPM is going to show him up and is hoping against hope that the team will award him #1 status and protect him from the Columbian, or, (2) He thinks that all of this talk will intimidate JPM, and give him a better chance to prevail. It really makes for a pathetic situation whatever you think. |

Listen, if you are trying to compete with the best driver of his generation, in the best car, it doesn't help matters to have two drivers on the same team fighting each other and potentially losing valuable points.
That is all Ralf has been saying. Thus far, unfortunately, based on last year, no one can say which one of the two should be #1. I think it should be Ralf given that he scored significantly more points. So lay off of him! Last edited by Inigo Montoya; 7 Nov 2001 at 12:48. |

Ralf's tetchy, argumentitive streak will not serve him well in the long difficult season ahead. He needs to go back to basics and focus on the driving. As he has become rattled, his driving has become scrappy.
JPM, on the other hand, had almost the opposite experience in 2001 - after a period of untidy performances and trying too hard, he publicly announched his intention to slow down a little - and hey presto, was soon out-performing Ralf! |

I think Ralf is doing the only thing he can do right now. Talk. He knows JPM ended the year in a very good fashion, and that he didn't, so he has to start the rubbish talk, trying to intimidate his rival. The problem is that he is intimidating noone but himself. Juan has learned much about this mind games, but it seems little bro hasn't. This could turn to him, and then he could be receiving the team orders.

Ralfie is trying to play some mind games? but his mind is not strong enough for doing so... he'll be hurt.
I'll like to see in the next season JPM outperforming Half (again) but only time can tell. Someone should advise him... TO SHUT UP aren't Berger's, Head's, and Williams' words enough? |

Instead of throwing eggs at Ralf for playing mind games, why don't we take a different angle at this...
He knows he ended the season poor relative to his team mate. But instead of with the hope to break his team-mates confidence, he talks with the intention to build his own confidence. We know that drivers have this ego thingy, and talking to the media is a way of boosting self-belief. Eddie, DC, JV, people who are actually less mentally tough compared to JPM and Michael and Senna tend to do this more~ JPM had said that F1 is a mentally tough job~. |

Nice talk people... That's what exactly he's trying to do, level the competition.
I'm afraid he's beginning to crack... |

Precisely drivers like senna and TGF do their talking on the track and I hope and believe that JPM will do the same.

I am a little torn with Ralph because i kind of like him. He has driven pretty cleanly except for the big squeeze he gave Mikey at Monza (in which he still gave him barely enough room, but i wouldn't have done it). Sure, he has had alot of stupid accidents, but who didn't when they were young? He drove some really good, clean races this year and i think he has turned the corner. But is it enough?
I think those who say Ralph is rattled are on the right track. He is concentrating on beating his teammate while there are 20 other guys to worry about as well. If Ralph just forgets about JPM, he will serve himself well. You can't watch the road ahead when you are constantly worrying about what is in the mirror. You know the old line; "Never look back, someone could be gaining." Right now, Ralph has the upper had with three wins and seniority on the team. No question that he is the team's (and BMW's) darling, but he has to watch what he is doing and worry about JPM only when they are going wheel to wheel. Williams has had driver friction before and it has cost them at least one championship. I suspect that they will let it play out and pick the driver who is in the strongest position when it is time to make a choice. Ralph has to be sure he is that guy. Is Ralph psychotic? Well, not yet. but he does have a pretty big inferiority complex because he is always being compared to "Schumacher Sr." It's kind of like what michael Andretti had to live up to. That Ralph beat Mikey head to head a couple of time last year will help. Ralph just has to be careful that he does his personal best and hope it is good enough to either beat JPM, or cause him to get sloppy from trying too hard. Advice to Ralph; concentrate on what YOU are doing. It won you three races last year. Ignore JPM and just beat him. If you can't beat him, you just look stupid for running your mouth. Shut up and drive. Don't alienate the team by publicly critisizing their decisions. Watch Mikey. He never gets into it with teammates, he just squashes them like they are bugs. Not that it matters. Big Schui will never be beaten until he gets bored and goes away. Kind of takes the fun out of it. I will be delighted if I am wrong. |

Tell him he's dreamin
what a ******, he's only shooting his mouth off to take the talk away from the fact that Montoya gave him a lesson towards season end, and was able to take the fight up to Schumacher from the start (well Round 3). Would Ralf have made the move on Michael that JPM did, hell no. If Ralf wants number one's and number 2's for next year, maybe he should give Barrichello a ring to get some tips. |

Do you fail to see what I see? Little bro is telling the world he needs the help of the team to beat Formula Juan. I am sure Sir Frank is reading little bro's contract for a clause to kick him out of his team.
