Yes, in the history of Le Mans I rate him well up there in the top three of my most expletive-worthy Le Mans features, along with the desecration of the Esses and the Dauer Porsche of 1994.....

It certainly brings forth a big 'hurrah' from me, however I'm not so sure about the other changes envisaged as a result. Fencing 4 feet higher and the relocation of the Restaurant des 24 Heures at Arnage?? (Mind you, if it stays open all night, could be very welcome in those early hours.....!)

Well that certainly is a turn up for the books, seems some people really want to see the proper Mulsanne back and why not? It wasn't that dangerous anyway

They forgot the bit about drivers having to stop at dusk to change into appropriate evening wear and the insistance that all cars carry a picknik hamper in case they breakdown

Yes, that really would have been good - and would have given us some exercise too!

I'd prefer it if they just left the track well alone.
If they *have to* make adjustments, fine, move the barriers back, however they need to have a 2-3 metre of grass at the track edge in order to deter track cutting for the sake of it, then they can have their 10m of tarmac if they wish. |

Always applaud efforts to improve safety but one of the largest appeals of LM is that it's a throw back event on a throw back track, like many of the other great, long standing races. It may have lost some of it's appeal through loss of character but I'll reserve full judgement once I see cars go through. I do love Jan's comment. |

I think it shows the driver's passion when they want that challenge

Now they have done it, they will never "undo" it.

If they're so concerned about track limits, how about putting a grass or gravel verge on the outside of the corner, or curbs that you won't want to hit? I brought this up in the test day thread. Only way to take away any incentive for cutting the track is to make the penalty self-policing and self-enforcing.
Between this and the NASCAR lug nut issues, I'm getting to the point of saying that if you want to be 100% safe, don't strap yourself into the car. |
