Ernie Penrose - former chairman at Kyalami Marshals Association
Hi
I suspect some of you may have visited Kyalami in the past 20 years and got to know Ernie as the former chairman and marshal of the KMA. The following is very sad news learnt over the past weekend:- Regards Subject: ERNIE - UPDATE 1 OCT Hi everyone, Even paradise has bad moments, and our bad moments started this morning at 09h30 when Ernie suffered a stroke at work. Netcare 911 took him to Hisbiscus Hospital in Port Shepstone where he was immediately admitted to ICU. It was a right brain stroke, so his left side is paralysed, although he has feeling in that side. He had a scan which shows there is a lot of fluid on the brain hence the excruciating pain of the pressure. The doctor is optimistic of a near complete recovery although it will be a long haul. At the moment they are trying to stabilise his extremely high blood pressure, which has to be reduced over a period of days. As soon as I have specific information, I will let you all know. In the meantime, please pray for my best buddy. Ernie is currently on life support and is not expected to make the night. Carol has said her goodbye and we now wait for the inevitable. We just hope that he will hold out so that Ken and Astrid make the trip from London., They are expected in Dbn about 3 tomorrow afternoon. Pray for Carol and Ernie and family. They need our love and support now more than anything. For those who are wondering where I fit into the picture. I'm Carol's nephew, Mike and Iris' son. I will be going down later this week so messages etc can be sent via myself as well. You are also welcome to give me a call if you want." __________________________________ |

Ernie Penrose - RIP
The following message was received from South Africa this morning:-
"Sadly, the SMS from Henry Schultz confirms that Ernie is no longer amongst us. Carol to you and your family, our thoughts and best wishes are with you. To our friend Ernie, thank you for all your dedication over many years to many people, from running Scout Groups to Grand Prix and Marshal Associations, you gave of yourself to those around you. Most of your friends on this list got to know you with your cheerful attitude on the track. May you now have found peace. The world is a poorer place without you. Regards Iain Nicol (former post chief, KMA" |
