Calder: Round 4

On July 7th and 8th Calder Park Raceway is the 4th Round of the Victorian State Championships.

If anyone is interested in coming down for a look, we will be competing as usual and would love to see you come along.

So who will head out to Calder for one of the last times ever.

Cool Cam!

We will probably be there

David - Calder will be closing at some stage in the near future, due to the same ole same ole story of compensation (insurance claim), causing a venue to close down (Bob Jane has basically had "the straw the broke the camels back"). Now, for the track racing, it will not be a huge loss, the whole course needed some serious work, but for the drag racing teams etc. this is a serious blow.

It sucks...

The closing of Calder bites from our point of view, as it is our test track. We can go there any Wednesday for a day pay $150 and have unlimited use of the track.

As far as a racing venue, it really needs more work before it can be seen as any good.

Also lacks atmosphere and imagination. Very short track, which requires a lot of horsepower. Boring to drive, as it is all stop start, however can get hairy with the big bump through gloweave, and gets very tight through the esses.

I have had my one and only lose at Calder, coming up Mt Jane. Putting the power on too early in the wet on the exit of turn 4. I went backwards up the hill, and nestled in amongst a few Formula Fords who decided to park there as well. hehehe

Calder is shaping up to be a huge weekend.

Although we are having major difficulties with this new engine. It hasn't even started running yet and we have had it apart three times now.

Oh well the joys of motorsport.

Can I have a show of hands of the people who have been to Calder before?

Next question, Has anyone actually enjoyed racing there?

Look forward to hearing your replies.
