Burns title bid lost?

Richard Burns has gone out of this weekend's rally San Remo when he left the course and broke the suspension of his Subaru. I was looking for a good fight for the title. Not all is lost, his rivals will most likely lose out to the tarmac specialists or maybe fall off the race altogether.

I feel bad for Burns, His year is still yet to come. I'm looking
forward to Puegoet and Citroen battling it out to the end. Hopefully
Citroen's cars will not fail, and fight Puegoet to the last stage on
the last day. I'm pulling for Jesus to bring the Citroen home for
a victory. I better not be getting excited for nothing like at I did
for the Catalunya rally.

Burns' title bid is far from lost. Just nine points in it with three events to go - he can still make it.

Go Richard!!

For Richard to have any chance of the championship crown in 2001 i think he must close the gap to his rivals in Corsica. If he does he must surely be one of the favourites as he seems to do well in Australia and especially Great Britain

It's likely that Corsica will be a similar story to San Remo with the French cars / tarmac specialists taking the top places. This means that whilst Richard does have to perform, it's unlikely that his rivals, (Colin, Tommi and Carlos) will also score well. So things could well be set up for Oz and GB & if that's the case it'll be a tough one to call. Both Richard & Colin have gone well on these rallys, Tommi's performance will depend on the new Lancer WRC & Carlos will not want a repetition of his Network Q luck

And so it was. Richard was the only one of the front-runners to score points and in doing so moved past Carlos into 3rd place, 6 points behind the leaders.

He's still in with a chance!

I think he still has a chance, it would be good to see a three-way battle for the championship on the Rally GB!

Richard Burns is guaranteed to be driving flat out on the upcomming Rally of Australia and only Colin stands in his way as far as i can see.Carlos and Tommi must surely need these two to slip up to have any real chance with these rounds remaining.

We are in for a great finish to the WRC 2001 now with Australia just round the corner and Burnsie in with a good shout along with Colin, Tommi and Carlos.

I think it will come down to Richard and Colin fighting for the honours on the red dust of the Perth forests and the rain and mud of of the English and Welsh forests. They have had some great tussles in previous rallies this year and I can't wait to see the outcome of the final two !

I'll be very happy to see Richard win his first WRC crown and I think (correct me if I am wrong) become the first english WRC champion. But I certainly won't be disappointed if Colin clinches his second WRC title - he certainly deserves it.

All I can say is 'may the best man win' - no matter who wins (and of course Tommi and Carlos cannot be discounted) we're in for some intense rally action !

Enjoy :-)

I cant wait for the seasons end - i think it will go down to the wire beteen the four at the top now and i can safely say that the winner will be british, i would love to see burns win cos well he hasnt won a title yet but am prefering the mcrae bid as he seems when things are going right to have that little bit extra, and well im a ford fan so would love to see him win..
