WTCR - Macau 2018
Double pole for Rob Huff, I've seen some images and I have to say that Huff is absolutely spectacular on this track. He drove on the limit the whole lap and he set the new TCR record - 2:29.040!
Muller 3th in the first Qualy and then 6th in the second while Tarquini has a 8th and a 14th as starting position, he made also a mistake in the second qualy. Bad week end for now for Thed Bjork. Scheider on pole in race 2 with Ceccon alongside him. Again Ceccon did a really good job in the Alfa 1st Qualy 1. Rob Huff (VW Golf) - Loeb – 2’29”040 2. Esteban Guerrieri (Honda) – Munnich – 2’29”519 3. Yvan Muller (Hyundai) - YMR – 2’29”631 4. Jean-Karl Vernay (Audi) - WRT – 2’29”960 5. Mehdi Bennani (VW Golf) - Loeb – 2’30”173 6. Norbert Michelisz (Hyundai) - BRC – 2’30”267 7. Gabriele Tarquini (Hyundai) - BRC – 2’30”403 8. Frederic Vervisch (Audi) - Comtoyou – 2’30”672 9. Pepe Oriola (Seat Cupra) - Campos – 2’30”827 10. I hope Ceccon returns in 2019, he has been really impressive.

Difficult to say. Audi here is the heaviest car. Shedden in this first year always struggle a bit with the car in setting good times in qualyfing, so I think is the same in Macau.
What Flash has been lack this year is the knowledge and confidence with this car. The Audi RS3 TCR is not easy to drive at the limit with this big ballast. The only driver who do that is Jean Karl Vernay, really impressive also in Macau. Next year will go better for Flash but I fear this is not his favourite type of car, surely he has to work hard to gain more confidence and speed. He's always been great in the hatchback cars like the Civic in BTCC, and I think he could be faster with that type of cars |

Surprised they did red flag instead of safety car.

Vernays car is so fast in a straight line. They can’t even close on him with a slipstream

I think I know why the red flag came out.
The track was blocked and caused for the 2nd year running on Macau a traffic jam at Police (but not as bad as either red flag from last year). Who was Flash copying from last year? And the Euro Sport new man forgot a few things. A laps get added from a SC/red flag, B Restart take place under SC and C look at the TV screen for lap count as he said final lap 3 times when it did NOT say final lap until lap 10 |

All the Audis were fast in the 1st sector of the track. The RS3 struggles in the twisty part especially for the ballast. But JK Vernay is really phenomenal here, he makes the difference and knows how to extract the best from his car. But he was fast also with the F3 and the GT cars in Macau

At the moment even if Tarquini will not score any point in race 2 and 3, Yvan Muller needs to finish at least 3° in the two remaining races. Certainly very difficult, but given the craziness of Macau it's not impossible...

Shame Huff couldn't win. The VW is fast on the wrong part of the track.
Hopefully Tarquini will make up some ground from his poor starting positions tomorrow. I don't want Muller to win this. Jake Sanson has always been a bad commentator. A few years ago during an ETCC race at Brno he openly admitted that he didn't really know what the rules were and a couple of years ago at Imola he announced the wrong driver as champion at the end of the broadcast. And then we have Matt Neal: "Front sector", "Thed Bjorg", "Zenga Motorsport", "Timo Schneider". The ignorance of the man is staggering. I'd rather have Richard Coleman in the box full-time as he actually knows what he's talking about. |

Also lamentable previous performance of Luigi Ferrara, who didn't score any points for WHOLE season, but now finally he got his first points!

Tragedy for Tarquini.
I'm not even mad at Eurosport for an ad break after 4 laps. |

Good job by Scheider to keep Muller behind there. Looks like Tarquini's car is OK for race 3.
Utter incompetence from Eurosport as usual. |

In the pits, as it was agreed, that he was back only for Suzuka this year and he'll skip Macau

Anyway, not important what I sayd because there is not an official rank. But in the professional Motorsport series, I think Tarquini is really the oldest champion. Previous record in my stats belonged to Sainz who won the Dakar 2018. I have to see the two remaining races, maybe later I'll do some more comment on this intriguing finale |

Watched races 2 and 3. I think it was showed how the Audi were fast in sector 1. Good win for Vervisch and great great battle for 2nd place between Scheider and Yvan Muller. The former DTM champ showed his class and it would be good to see him back in 2019
Very emotional win for Guerrieri, a good way to end a good 2018. Huff tried everything but the Golf had not a good speed even in slipstream. He deserved the 10th win in Macau but it's only delayed. Anyway Guerrieri did not put a foot wrong despite the big pressure by Huff. Vernay pushed at the limit his Audi but in the end he crashed in Lisboa. Good job by Norbi who keep back Muller. As I said Macau is not the lucky place for Tarquini but this time he had a good points advantage over the former WTCC champion. This "old" man has a great determination and he won't retire! Ceccon struggled in the races but he bring home some good points. Hope he will continue with an improved Giulietta by Romeo Ferraris. Someone mentioned Ferrara in the previous post. Well he is not an international racer. Scoring points on this track and in a such difficult championship is great for him. A good reward after a good season in the TCR Italy |

Nice to see Guerrieri winning race 3.
Last couple of years I was critical because of all the yellows and safety cars but this year I really enjoyed the event. |
