Why the big time differences in the second run-off? Did the track dry as cars were being collected?

Not really
Quote:
Scott Moran was second up and posted a 60.32. Tim Wilson had his grassy moment running fifth then Deano had his detour running seventh. It was Simon Durling who put in the step change by attacking the course in search of that elusive first championship win. Once Roger & Martin got the message they were up for it. I really thought Roger had done enough but Martin's determination and phenominal car control just won through. The track was just as slippery at the end of the run-off as it had been at the start as was demonstarted by Groovey's spin as he crossed the line at Quarry. |

I have to disagree with that one, when we went down it was touch and go what tyres to go on. Tom New even went down on all wets, myself, Tim Wilson and Jon Waggit went on wets at the front and slicks on the rear.
After Deano and Tim's offs which took a while to recover and the feedback Roger and Martin had from Scott and Paul it was definitely slicks. Chris |

I chose slicks and wet map. There were large black damp patches in the Esses and round Chippies. By the end of the runoff it was slicks and definitely dry map. It wasn't raining and there was some wind, plus some traffic. The track dried.
I don't know where Steve was watching from... Paul |

If scott put in a run without any mistakes(?) I doubt he would be 6 seconds of the winning time had the track conditions remained the same..(?)
Who won the 2 litre class? |

when i left line it was touch and go wether inters or slicks were the best choice when on track i wished i could have had slick frts instaed of inters and maybe wouldn't have understeered off after farmhouse,i can assur you steve game had been upped and i was up on the leading time at that point.
the real question is what the hell was going on in first run off when i was sitting at startline for 15 mins waiting for timing gear to be fixed just enough time for everyone behind me to go from slicks to wets (funny that )before stoppage i was looking pretty smug on inters, that soon changed when heavens opened. i have been held on startline for 3 run offs now getting abit peeved. moose |

The real issue is why are cars sent down the hill and then made to wait? What takes so long with the timing between the end of a set of timed runs and a run off? It would be nice to know. Paul |

In a slight aside; Congrats to Sandra Tomlin for FTD at Harewood on sat, rubbish weather but a worthy drive to post 59.3 seconds.
Any info from Shelsley, did Deryk take the spoils? |

Deryk did, and got under 26s twice in very iffy conditions, not bad considering there was no real competition to spur him on. Sue was a little more circumspect, but still went very well. I wouldn't bet against the ladies record being broken again this year.
An interesting set of results from Harewood. Good to see the leader board being so unpredictable, although the weather may be affecting that. (Drought? Not on the hills, anyway). Some effective runs from Chris Merrick and Simon Durling by the looks of it, and do I surmise that Basil Pitt is getting comfortable with the new car? And what's that with Chris Guille in fifth? That must have been quite a climb. |
