Losing the plot?
Please forgive me if I offend anybody, but what is all this emphasis on "new paint schemes"? I just don't understand why it seems to be such a big deal...
As has been pointed out by others, is this just a way of selling a new wave of merchandise/model cars etc etc? |

In a Series based on continuity of specification from year to year there is not much to get excited about other than new livery. It not like ford are showing us their new 4 litre V10 engine and seven speed auto box with carbon chassis etc.

The interest for me is slightly off the wall, to see which commercial partners have been dragged from the comfort of the boardrooms to the race tracks.
In combination with knowing which of the horsepower heroes will get to put their backside in whose car, whichever model it is... this builds a level of anticipation that AVESCO could do well to harness by managing the media rollout to maximise coverage... |

Good answer GTR... I agree that these issues ARE worth sniffing out. I guess I was referring to the "beauty contest", where people hold up numbers indicating the score they would give the designers of the new layouts.

Well some of the new designs are attractive, some wont show up well on the teev at all, and may suffer a revision before the season starts.....
... it makes me wonder if there is a genuine plan for the model cars not to come out until the end of a season rather than the start, when some of the looks arent that pretty. |

It's all about getting us fans into a lather before the season starts, so we go along to the meetings with our wallets/purses full to overflowing with expendable cash.

Ah but guys without the merchandising a lot of teams would have a big dent in there operateing budgets for the year.Besides it makes it easyier for the teams to spot there own fan clubs.
