Mon Nunn 2003

from champweb:

In a Champweb exclusive, we have found out that Mo Nunn Racing will be running 2 cars in CART and 2 cars in the IRL. The IRL wil be funded by Honda. We know who the CART sponsors are but are not at liberty to say.

Lets hope for 2 in CART

Hmm, weird considering that after Zanardi had his accident Nunn said he would only run one car from now on. But if he's got the backing to run two cars, then it's good news. More cars on the grid.

Maybe Zanardi is backing him. Anyway it's good news he's going to run two cars, wonder who will get the second drive?

Add to the fact Mo Nunn said he only wanted to run in one series.

Well, what you want and what you get may be two different things. Just ask Memo Gidley.

It would be good if he runs 2 cars in both series and Gidley gets one of the CART seats, alongside Kanaan.

Gidley, Servia, Papis, Rice, Carpentier, Franchitti, Bell, Brack... Shouldn't be much of a problem to find a driver.

Why would we want Bell and Brack in the series?

Both are no hopers.

Brack may still have hope, but it'll have to be in the IRL or NASCAR. If Ganassi ends up with 2 cars in each series, I'd bet that Brack teams up with Jeff Ward. And as for Bell, maybe he'd be successful in Barber Dodge.

Any type of contact sport would suit Bell, or maybe someone forget to tell him that CART isn't a contact sport. If Shell do leave, or swhich their sponsorship to De Ferran, maybe Vasser will be up for this drive thanks to the Mo connection. But as you say, tehre are lots of names on the market.

brack aint a no hoper - he won in irl and finished 2nd in cart..... guess he wont go nascar now with the ricky rudd signing - maybe irl is where his immediate future lies, especially if andretti, penske's etc are racing in that series,,,

I think Brack's days in CART are numbered considering the rumours of infighting at Ganassi and the Swede's unpopularity with the team as a whole.

I expect Brack to partner Ward in the IRL, while Bruno will stay with Ganassi in CART. Wonder who will partner him though?

Well, there's Scott Dixon, who is pretty good and is also photogenic, fan friendly (to a point) and suited to the demographic.

Mo Nunn should get Zanardi to do some PR for him. I bet sponsors would love to have Zanardi to mingle among them, even once or twice a year.

Don't tell him about sportscars, then. We had enough of that in the ALMS 2000.

Send him to Busch.

Servia and Kanaan in the one team!!!!!

I've always had a soft spot for MNR (I am a Zanardi fan!), I'd love to see them do well in CART. They are due some good luck though.

Like usual, it will all depend on sponsorship, who has it, who wants it, who offering and which drivers are available to drive the car.

But what would Toyota think of that?...and how long is his contract for?

I believe his contract is with Toyota, and if it is, then it then depends on what they want to do with him. If they are indeed grooming him for a possible chance at F1, they would no doubt want him to keep road racing, if not, they would probably take him to IRL. Thats if his contract is with Toyota, i'm sure someone can confirm this

As a Kiwi my hunch is that Scott's heart is in road racing. I can't see him wanting to end up in the IRL when his ultimate goal is still F1. If Kenny isn't getting along at Gnassi then he'll probably go back to the IRL. If Dario takes Christian's place at Newman-Haas Carl will have a super-team. dario is good PR value too.
